About the only way I would tackle this is to take apart the unit and free it.

maby it's the sleep timer.

You either have a dirty optical pickup or a bad one in the unit--it reads the disc.They do make a cleaning disc but that is only 50-50 chance(sometimes a disc gets put in with some kind of residue on it)If bad the built in player will cost more to fix/replace than a cheap external unit connected to rear inputs in place of it--this is the real issue with combo units--usually cheaply made etc.
