With the Symbol scanners, they usually come with a sheet at least of scan codes to configure the scanner. One of those bar codes will have the option of not needing to manually hit the carriage return. What model scanners are they? You can probably find the codes from Symbol.

It sounds like you need to program a Tab after each scan. You will need to download the manual from www.motorola.com so you can access the setup bar codes.

Clean the glass really well. Sounds like it's picking up a number when it shouldn't.

My company installs ls2208s for our customers. Never had a problem until recently, one of our customers had three fail all at once. Upon calling Symbol (1-800-653-5350) I was told that there was "a bad batch." Apparently, wands manufactured around the end of Oct until Nov 2008 are bad. The company will replace the wands free of charge(make sure you save the stand and power cable as they will only replace the wand itself).

The manufacture date is on the label just above the trigger. Hope this helps.

On the HP LaserJet 1320, the attention light is a generic alarm. It can mean out of paper, paper jam, paper misfeed, cartridge missing, or cartridge door open. You can try cleaning the pickup roller or changing the separation pad. You can find these maintenance steps in the user manual starting on page 73 (page 83 of the PDF). At my home when our LaserJet 1320 reached ~10 years old, we got this message and decided to replace the printer. There will be 1 of the paper sensors that is jammed, so that the printer thinks that there is paper in the area. You will need to follow the paper flow and check that all the sensors are moving freely. I had a feather from a feather duster suck in a printer holding a sensor wiper open. took me ages to find the problem. Hope this helps
