You can try this. It works on Sidekick 3's

1. at the same time hold the menu button (top left) and the jump button (bottom left)
2. This will bring you to the emergency screen (it gives you the option to make an emergency call)
3. Open to the keypad and hold in the menu+shift+q buttons at the same time.
4. The phone will reset and clear/unlock the security code

If that doesn't work you can trya Master Reset

1. Remove the battery and the SIM card from the device.
2. Flip the sidekick open; press and hold the letter 'r' on the keypad.
3. While holding the letter 'r', place the battery back in the device. DO NOT INSERT THE SIM CARD YET.
4. The sidekick will restart itself twice. Please make sure not to let the letter 'r' go until it has fully rebooted.
5. Once it has fully rebooted, remove the battery, re-insert the SIM card and battery and power up the device.
6. Once the device has fully rebooted, all prior information should be erased from the device and it should be restored back to the default factoy settings.

This is a COMMON problem with the Sidekick. Not just the LX but the whole line. You'd think they'd have solved it by now. Anyway, I have a WORKAROUND to bypass your problem. It won't fix ibad charger port, but it will charge your battery for only $5. Go to ebay. Type in "universal cell phone charger". Dozens of these should come up. Most are some variant of a generic China made round charger. They have clip on electrode probes which touch the contacts of your batteries and holds them to recharge them. They work not only with most cell phone batteries, but with digital cameras and pdas too. Anyway, order one that has a good instruction sheet or description. I wasted a whole day recharging one of my batteries the wrong way because the instructions didn't come with it. Generally, the more buttons, the better. These chargers are cheap and dinky looking, but THEY WORK! I charged up a Sidekick 3 battery with one. The only real issue is that they take some time to charge up . At least my SK3 battery did, simply because it's so big. I'd get another battery on ebay and TWO chargers for a total of under $12. Some of these chargers are as cheap as $3 each. I'd have one bat charging and another ready to go just to get around the longer recharge times. For $12, beats the hell out of the $35 I'd have to pay for a Sidekick 3 battery charging cradle!

You will have to take it to your nearest T-Mobile store. Some stores are now setup as replacement centers as long as you have insurance for your phone. Check for locations on www.t-mobile.com

do you need internet for the sidekick to work??

Will a t-mobile sidekick bought online work correctly by just putting the sim card inside without buying internet for it? A salesperson said for the brand new ones that you have to purchase internet for the sidekick and use it for the entire time you have it. Does this apply to used ones? I'd like to buy this phone, but do not want the internet services to go with it and would like to know if without internet, will the phone still work correctly. Please help!

Hi, well to start things off, I have the exact same problem. I want the Sidekick but cannot get the internet and my mom won't pay it for me. So what you have to do is buy it for the retail price, therefore "just the phone". Imagine it like this: you're buying a computer without internet. Same principle. When you buy it for the retail price, it will be a bit more expensive but you don't need internet and it will save you about $30 a month. Which is a life saver. So all you have to do is get it for the retail price, they cannot refuse. If they do either bring it up to the owner, or forget about the phone.
