Flashes and dings, huh? What light(s) flash? For a Samsung DW, that is a very important clue as to what is wrong. If you need further help, reach me via phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/ronald_e6b9572cebe3ad27
Thank-you so much I was able to fix the problem. there was a small piece of plastic stuck in the pump house which was connected to the pump. Hopefully no more 5e errors ):

It's a fairly big job. You have to pull the dishwasher out from under the cabinet. Then remove the left-hand metal panel. You should now be looking at the case-brake assembly. Reach inside the dishwahsher and turn the water-inlet bezel counter-clockwise to remove it. Now you can tilt out the case-brake assembly and loosen the clamp that holds the drain hose in place. Pull the hose off (have a towel or Sham-Wow ready to catch the water). Then you have to remove the clamp or hose-restraint at the back of the dishwasher. Thaen you can pull the drain hose out and replace it. If you need further help, reach me via phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/ronald_e6b9572cebe3ad27
Most likely, there is some foreign object stuck in the drain pump (impeller area). If that's not it, then you probably have a bad drain pump. If you need further help, reach me via phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/ronald_e6b9572cebe3ad27
The SE or 5E error code means "Draining Error", which coincides with what you observed. First check the drain hose for an obstruction, especially where it goes into the garbage disposer (and check the garbage disposer port to make sure it is clear too). If that's okay, then you will have to pull the dishwasher out to check the drain pump. Chances are, some foreigh object has gotten into the drain pump, and is blocking or partially blocking the water flow. If everything is OK, then you probably have a bad ECS sensor, and will have to replace it. If most of this is beyond what you want to do, at least check the hose at the garbage disposal end before you call a repairman. If you send me an e-mail address, I will gladly send you the PDF of service and parts manuals for this unit. I paid $15.00 online for them, used them once, and will gladly share!
My limited understanding is this device will detect a leak in the supply line between the sink and the bottom of the dishwasher, which can also trip this code.

look at the arm that has the water nozzles on it to see if some of them are plugged. Also make sure the screen at the bottom of the machine isn't restricted.
