We just purchased a soothing comfort playard and changer from a garage sale. It looks very clean and nice. However, you can NOT remove the fabric from the construction. Construction is put together with rivets that are not removable. Here is the method we will use to clean it. We will take it outside in the yard and hose it with clean water. While it is still wet, we will sprinkle plenty baking powder on the fabric and let it soak for a few hours in the sun. Then, we will purchase one of those general purpose liquid spray cleaners (such as Lysol). My wife insists on using a scrub brush and some laundry detergent (protect your hands), which is OK. If you mix in some bleach it would kill all germs as well. After the application of cleaners, and scrubbing, leave in the sun for one more hour. Then, use the garden hose to completely rinse off all the chemicals. The baking powder will get rid of all smells, and the bleach or Lysol will kill all germs. Do not worry about a few stains; they will be "sanitized" stains. :-)
