Try disabling Bluetooth. I found this allows the wireless to run smoothly. Disable wireless when you don't need it and Bluetooth will run smooth again. Bluetooth and wireless Can be on the same chip and causes interference.

This could just be the setting in Device Manager under that adapter's Properties then Power Management. Untick the option "Allow the computer to turn this device off to save power", click Apply and OK your way out.

Because the BIOS is stored in ROM, it must have a constant power supply to store any changes you make to it, otherwise it would reset every time you disconnected your laptop from AC power. Removing power to the BIOS resets it to factory settings and involves disconnecting a small battery attached to the motherboard. On many laptops, the BIOS battery is easily accessible through a door on the bottom of the unit. Unplug the computer, remove the main battery and touch something metal to ground yourself. Remove any screws holding the BIOS battery door in place. Then identify the battery, (it is generally a small lithium "watch" battery), and remove it taking care not to damage any surrounding circuitry. Let the computer rest for a twenty minutes or so discharge any remaining power, and replace the battery If your laptop does not have an easily accessible door for the BIOS battery, you may have to dive deeper and disassemble the computer to find it. Consult your laptop manufacturer's website for information on replacing or removing the BIOS battery from your model.

1st.: check to see if there is a wireless button on the outside of the computer. Some have this option to turn it on/off and it's easily overlooked by many.

2nd.: Right click "my compuer" and go to manage. Go to "device manager" and find your card under the "network adapter" tab. If it is disabled, double click it to enable it. If it has a yellow flag on it, you will need to download and update the driver.

You will need Windows 7 supported drivers - goto the HP website and download new ones. Install, reboot - then try again. If this doesnt work - it might be unsupported on that laptop.

If you live in the USA and have a Staples near by you can have them order replacement recovery CD/DVDs for about $30 (It takes about 5 to 7 business days).
You should be able to call TOSHIBA also but, I do not know how much they charge for recovery CD/DVDs.

If the PC boots fine without the scanner hooked up then:

1. It is a driver issue with the scanner
   **Try removing the device driver and updating device manager
   **Try plugging the scanner onto another computer before installing ANY software - if that doesn't cause a restart, the problem is with your driver.
   
2. It is a hardware issue with the USB cable
   **Try another USB cable
   
3. It is a hardware issue with the scanner itself
   **If the above two do not work, you will need to get a new scanner.. :(
   

It appears that the computer you bought on EBay only has the Windows opertating system installed. Did the seller give you a full specification and configuration including installed software? What other parts are missing? As for an Internet connection, you need a network card and an Internet Service Provider, have you arranged for this?

Are you using XP. if so, try using Ctrl-Alt_Del and then enter userename : administrator and leave the password blank.

This is a comon problem with XP machines
