Problem During Boot-Up

several things it could be but im going to look at the obvious the battery and cord hook up
laptops when plugged into contstant 120 power the battery is supposed to go into stand by mode and shut battery off so power dont leak into battery
if you have low battery with it plugged into 120 the comp will still think the battery is powering the laptop if battery dead then comp shuts down lack of power

other thing is somehow you caught a virus that reboots comp from dos screen mode
the main thing i always ask is what was the last thing that happened before it did what its doing now

Overheating and shutting down within several

The A-70 and A75 series both suffer from a very tight cooling system. If you are running a P4 its pretty marginal. Basically what you need to do is blow out and or clean the cooling system. On my A70 I had to do it every 4-6 months. Basically as soon as it started getting past warm on the bottom of the laptop it was time to blow it out.

Basically what happens is dust and oils (cooking oils, perfume oils etc) and hair collect on the cooler and reduce how effective it can cool.

So what you do to clean it is get a can of compressed air (keyboard blow off stuff) and two toothpick. Take the battery out and unplug it.Turn the laptop upside down. Insert the toothpick in the cooling fans. This is important as the air can turn the fans faster then they are meant to spin and could damage the fan bearings (new fan annoying and expensive -lots of labour). Take the compressed air and blow in from the exits and then blow in over the fans. What will surprise you is just how little dust will come out. It may just be one good puff of dust and thats it. When you do this a couple of times or don't see any more dust you are done. Take out the toothpicks and put the battery back in and turn it on. It should run much cooler.

Toshiba Satellite A75-S231 overheating pls advise

You need to open the Notebook and clean it with an Air-blower mainly near the CPU (Processor) area.

You need to check whether the CPU cooling fan is working properly or not, try cleaning it too, If the problem still persists replace the CPU cooling fan.

That's it.

I/O device error - attempted to download purchased

This is one of the first errors you will see when your DVD/CD drive is going bad. The easiest way around is purchasing an external DVD drive that hooks up USB. You can purchase this drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827118006 and replace your old DVD/CD drive, it is easy to install, there is just one screw holding it in and a simple bracket to move over to the new drive. You need to remove the one screw holding in the DVD before trying to pull out the old DVD drive.

Toshiba Satellite A75-S231 overheating and

I have a Satellite A75-S2292. It did the same thing to me. I just blow the vents & fans out weekly with canned air. I also have an under the laptop cooling fan, to increase the air flow. I haven't had it shut done for months, since I started doing some preventive maintenance.
The changing the thermal paste is not a good repair. Thermal paste will last for at least 20 years, under worse conditions than most computers will ever experience. Removing the processor chip, wiping everything clean & replacing the paste & chip just make more chances for damage.

Unexpected shut down

First, you need to find out what is causing the shutdown problem.

Most likely since you have this laptop for 3years now and (i am assuming you havent had this serviced). You might be suffering from overheat problems since you are using a DESKTOP P4 cpu.

Try to dismantle your laptop and remove the Fan and Heat sink. CLEAN them and put new thermal paste to the cpu.

Do that and see if this fixes the problem. If not, let me know again

If i was able to help please rate this solution as a fixya!

thanks

No sound from laptop speakers

I have reviewed your problem and have the fallowing for you to aces.
Please keep in mind, I am a technician but do not know what has caused your problem, so lets get started.
First, not knowing your operating system makes things a little harder.
Please disconnect any external devices and remove and media from the disk drive.Note.... This includes, USB Flash cards, External jacks, PCIMCA or any other kind of devices.
Next, reboot your unit and enter your device manager and hardware.
Next, you need to look for and exclamation marks, Flags or the phrase Unknown Device and delete them.
After deleted save, exit and reboot your unit.
Your system will see your installed devices and load the appropriate drivers.
Once this has finished, you will need to check your device manager again and see again if their are any flags, exclamation marks or unknown devices.
If good, you are their.
Basically, what you are doing is removing and reloading your audio
If your system does not have any of the above and you do not see sound and audio under your device manager, you have a damaged motherboard but not likely.
Hope this gets you back up with sound.
Thanks Please rate......
drivers.

When i try to boot my toshiba a75 laptop i receive

Below are the specs to the type of memory that can be installed in the A75...it is very specific and cannot be anything else then what is listed. You have 512 mb built onto the motherboard, with one expansion slot. That slot can only hold up to 1 gb stick if the BIOS has been upgraded. Go to Toshiba support and make sure the BIOS on the machine is up to date so it will accept the larger stick of ram memory and make sure all the specs are right on the stick that you have.

Each memory slot can hold DDR PC2700 with a maximum of 1GB per slot.*

  • Maximum Memory: 1536MB
  • Slots: 1 (1 bank of 1)
  • Standard Memory: 512, 768, or 1024MB (512MB non-removable)
  • USB Support: 2.x Compliant

Sometimes, the electrical power is interrupted and

No, that sounds like your battery is dead, the laptop should stay powered on even if the charger is removed, unless the battery is dead.

If the issue remains with a new battery, actually I would recommend that you take this to a local professional for a checkup as I wouldn't want you to buy a new battery incase there really is a mainboard problem.
