I think there's some wire or something inside. I've heard this in other freezer bowls before, and it shouldn't cause a problem.

Here's what you can do to use it without a gasket:

Lightly oil the gasket with vegetable oil. It should slip into place a LOT more easily. Good luck and enjoy your ice cream!

the gaskets become swollen over time and will not fit after they are removed

The rattle noise is normal. My Donvier is 20 years old and still works well. I prefer using a large flat spoon to stir the contents by hand (no lid needed) Stirring by hand is easier and more efficient. Just don't touch the frozen cylinder with bare skin.

When the Donvier is room temperature the fluid in the canister sort of 'rattles'. I think that is normal.

Due to the need to have an insert that is a good conductor of heat I do not believe they make a non-aluminum insert.

Lemon Sherbet Ingredients

• 2 egg whites
• 3 - 4 cups (500-750 ml) lemonade
• sweeten to taste

Instructions Beat egg white until foamy but not dry. Mix in lemonade and sweetener and pour into Donvier. Freeze to desired consistency.
