No manual - lost password

You will need to reset the router so that you can get in. Unplug the router. Press the reset button with a paper clip while inserting the power. Hold the reset button for about ten seconds.

The modem should be reset to defaults: admin/admin (as user and password) and the gateway address should be 192.168.1.1.

From a hardwired PC, you should be able to point your browser at 192.168.1.1 to reset the password of the router and the network key.

Trying to connect a new laptop to my linksys

Stop and start over with Router Setup by using a paper clip to press router reset button. Now, with router connected via CAT-5 cable to a computer's NIC. On this computer, using IE or other web access, go to http://192.168.1.1 to access router web setup. Set the Wireless properties, such as SSID (Network Name) and Security properties, like WEP/WPA passwords. This password will be needed by all computers accessing this router's signal. At this point, your router should be putting out a signal identified by the SSID name, all other settings for the router should be set already to the point where it will work, like the IP addresses declared in the router setup. Best left alone, at least till it is up and running. It gets the network address from your Internet Provider, and they are the only ones that can give you an IP address.

I need help keeping my neighbors from using my

You will need to turn on the WPA or WEP security encryption on your router. You can get to the router settings by using a computer connected directly to the router using a lan cable. You will need to use 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 on your internet browser. This will take you to a screen asking for a user name and password. The default setting is nothing for the username and password is "admin". From there you can turn on the WEP or WPA encryption and create a passkey. Then each computer will need to have the passkey stored to gain connection to the router. This will also keep anyone else from connecting to your router without the passkey. And make sure to change the user name and password for your router so no one can change the settings on it.

My network says that it can't find the internal wireless adapter

well! friend i use to work for netgear and let me tell you if your wireless network was unsecured then somebody connected to your router wirelessly and enabled password on your router.it is quite possible that your router login password is also changed.if not then you are lucky.try this ->
goto start - run - type CMD and press enter in the DOS window type ipconfig and enter whatever is the default gateway is just copy it.open inter explorer and type that default gateway in the address bar and enter.it will ask you for username and password.use the username and password provided on the back the router on the sticker.get into your router`s settings goto wireless section and change the password.it would be WEP or WPA.always keep security or that guy will hack your wireless again. if it doesn`t work then you have to reset the router by pressing the little button on the back for 10 to 15 seconds.reconfigure your router with the help of the CD that came with it you can also do it manually if you know.

My network says that it can't find the internal wireless adapter

You may have to reboot your PC and try to connect again.
If you have "Viewed all available networks" and tried to connect to your Wireless network but cannot what kind of error message are you getting ?

To quickly find out if you have Internet Connectivity coming in at all from your Internet Service Provider turn off your wireless switch on your laptop and try to connect a cat5 directly from your PC ( connect cat5 cable to what looks like a slightly larger telephone jack on the side or back of your laptop) to the back of your router and see if you browse the internet. You may have to reset your router (unplug and plug)
