If the lights are flicking it could be a problem with the router itself. Lights do flash on routers to show activity which is normal.

Try factory defaulting the router. If that does not work then the router is likely bad.

Some basic requirements before you begin
i. An active Internet connection.
ii. A computer with a wireless or wired Ethernet adapter, running one of the operating systems below.
- Windows XP with Service Pack 3
- Windows Vista with Service Pack 1 or better

Getting started
Provided that the above requirements are met, you can now begin setting up your Linksys Wireless-N Router. In this example, we'll be setting up the Linksys E3000 High Performance Wireless-N Router. The following steps will walk you through the entire process.
Step 1:
Your Linksys Wireless-N Router allows you the freedom of running setup via a wired or wireless connection. Therefore, please start by performing the instructions under the description that best matches the computer you're working with. Proceed to Step 2 once you're done.
Description A:
You are using a computer with no wireless connectivity that is normally connected with an Ethernet cable to your DSL/Cable modem.

Instructions A:
Please connect one end of the supplied Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port on your computer, and connect the other end into one of the numbered Ethernet ports at the back of your Linksys Wireless-N Router.
Description B:
You are using a laptop with a built-in wireless adapter.

Instructions B:
If you're using a laptop, please ensure that its wireless feature is switched ON, and that your laptop is positioned within 5 feet of your Linksys Wireless-N Router.
NOTE: Most laptops have a switch that turns its wireless feature ON and OFF. Refer to your laptop's documentation or online help if you're unsure where this switch is. This doesn't apply if you purchased an external wireless adapter separately.
Step 2:
On your computer, insert the supplied Setup CD that came with your Router. Setup should start automatically.

NOTE: If setup doesn't load automatically, please click here.

Step 3:
The first screen greets you with the Software End User License Agreement. Please take a moment to read through and understand the agreement. Once you're ready, go ahead and click Next.

NOTE: The Linksys Wireless-N Router model displayed on the setup screen may vary based on the Linksys Wireless-N Router model you have.
Step 4:
On the next window, please follow the on-screen instructions on how to connect your Linksys Wireless-N Router:
Plug one end of the power cable into your router and the other end into an electrical outlet.

NOTE: The Linksys E3000 features a power switch, located at the back-end of the unit, next to the power port. Please make sure that this switch is ON. Other Router models may not have this feature.

Plug the Internet cable into the yellow port in the back of your router labeled "Internet". Plug the other end into the modem.

After completing the above steps, click Next to continue.

Step 5:
Setup will now perform a series of tests to determine the optimum configurations for your network. You may notice your computer connecting and disconnecting to a wireless network several times. This is normal. Your wireless network is simply being secured.
NOTE: The setup process automatically generates a unique and secure Wireless Network Name (SSID) for your convenience.

Step 6:
The next part of the setup automatically detects your Internet connection type. If you are using a DSL connection, you may be requested to enter your account details. If this is the case, simply enter your Account name and Password in the allocated fields. Otherwise, you may skip ahead to Step 7.
NOTE: If you don't know your Account name and Password, your Internet Service Provider (ISP) will be able to provide these details.

QUICK TIP: Click Examples to see what your Account name should look like.

NOTE: Cable Internet users will not see the above screen.
Step 7:
Sit back and wait a moment as setup finalizes your Linksys Wireless-N Router settings, and re-establishes your Internet connection.

Step 8:
Once your Internet connection is up and running, a confirmation window similar to the screenshot below will appear on your screen. Your Linksys Wireless-N Router is now secure and connected to the Internet. This concludes the setup process. Click OK to continue.

Step 9:
You will now be taken to the main Cisco Connect window which lets you manage and further personalize your network settings. If you would like to learn more about the available features in Cisco Connect, please click here. Otherwise, you may click on the Close button to exit Cisco Connect, and begin surfing the Internet right away.
NOTE: To launch Cisco Connect again at later time, on a Windows computer, go to Start>All Programs>Cisco Connect. To launch Cisco Connect on a Mac computer, navigate to the Applications folder in Go, and then start Cisco Connect. For more help on this, please click here.

when you power on the wireless,its have some IP(like 192.168.0.1 or 10.10.1.1 something).

Just you ping the ip from your local set up PC.(*don't forget that your local PC is on same network)

If its ping properly then your wireless is good. otherwise problem is in wireless point

1. Click Start>run
2. type cmd and hit enter.
3. At the command prompt type ipconfig and hit enter.
4. Look for your IP address. it will be something like 192.168.1.2

So what every your computer's IP address is, If you change the las number to 1, that is your routers IP address. So if your IP is 192.168.1.4 then change the 4 to a 1, 192.168.1.1 and put it into your browser and it will bring up the router login page.

If you don't know your login, if your router is linksys, put admin in the password box with nothing in the username box and hit OK.

The Linksys might not be compatible with XP sp3. If it was working before, there is nothing wrong with your Linksys

Yes, the CD just automates the setup. Open your browser and enter 192.168.1.1 into the address bar, then hit enter. This will take you to what looks like a web site but is actually your router. You will need to login using the username and password you gave it. If you did not get that far, the default is leave the username blank and the password is "admin" without the quotes. The steps you will need to take next can be found in the manual or at the Linksys web site.
