I am trying to install a WRT54GS Linksys wireless

It's possible.. try using LinkSys "Live Chat" if the online help or CD is not getting the job done for you. The support people there should be able to quickly identify the cause of the 322 error.

LinkSys used to have 24/7 telephone support, but that is gone. The Live Chat is the closest thing you're going to get to that.

Good luck!

My router was working fine

Ayt, there should be a reset button on the router where you press and hold it for at least 8 secs while the router is on. That should fix it. Now, you need to make sure that your router is secured to prevent unwanted access from neighbors and limits only access to your computers. to access it, connect a pc on the router via wire, open a browser and type http://192.168.1.1 on the address bar. It will open the router's configuration screen. from ther you can play around with security, Basic security for wifi is WEP or WPA but I would suggest MAC filtering for more security if you are familiar with MAC addresses. Post a comment if you need further details and instructions.
Hope this helps..

I have a WRT54GS Liniksys router - works great as

by closed, you mean secure the wireless signal? plug a pc directly up to one of the lan ports on the router. Now open a web browser and visit http://192.168.1.1 username is blank and pw is admin by default unless it has been changed in the past.

Now, go to the wireless tab, find the security section, there are usually radio buttons or a drop down showing several types of encryption. WPA-2 should be one of the methods, choose it, create a passphrase for the password and then click save. Now on your laptops or wireless computer, disconnect from the wifi network, click the advanced tab and remove it from your preferred networks, now refresh and look for your wifi network, click connect then enter your passphrase. Repeat for all 4 computers. Your wifi network is now secure.

> excellent connectivity

This refers to the wireless connection between your computer & your router, not to the connection from your cable-modem (or DSL-modem) out through your ISP to the Internet.

If you use an Ethernet cable to connect your computer directly to the cable/DSL modem, do you still have "intermittent" problems?
If so, then your router (or other wireless devices, such as your neighbours' router, or your neighbours' wireless telephones that are trying to operate on the same broadcast frequency) is the problem.

I have 4 wireless computers connected to Linksys

You should have no problems. Wireless is a protocol onto itself which is not OS specific. Hence the ability to use game consoles, security cameras and even phones on a wireless network.

If you're happy with the performance of your wireless G router then I would continue to use it.

If you want the increased speed of an N network to compliment the windows 7 machine you have, then I would upgrade the Linksys to another router.

They're rather inexpensive now (N Routers).

One can pick one up for $59 to $89 to $109 nowadays, which was the price of a G router just 1 or 2 years ago.

I wish you luck in deciding what router to use in your network.

Red light at power on

Too bad. The quickest/cheapest way to proceed is to buy another router, either online (through 'www.UsedEverywhere.com') or at a "big-box" consumer electronics store, for less than $50.

Everything is connected my laptop was able to find

Hi. First issue why your laptop cant connect to your router is regarding witht the password. Make sure that you are typing in the correct password of your router. Check the type of authentication used e.g WPA, WEP etc. Second issue, is this the first time you used windows 7 OS in connecting to your router. There are issues in linkys routers that is not compatible with windows 7 and you need firmware upgrade for your router. You can also try to test the connectivity using a wired conncetion (LAN cable) conncet directly to your router nd se if you were able to get an internet concetion using a wired connection.

Have a good one! If you need further help, reach me via phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/elixirjose_00375ea24bd8141b
