Did you ever figure out the problem? Mine does the same thing. Just immediately drains and then nothing happens.

Seems peculiar to me there's so much pressure on a drain hose. Are you pumping to a drain much higher than the top of the washer? Just pumping water out of a drain hose shouldn't create much pressure unless the hose is kinked or restricted. Look for that problem first. You could get a hose clamp from an auto parts store that's much more reliable than the spring clamps you're describing. I would try that on the inside and outside connection and see if it solves the problem.

bad drain pump or clogged drain line. some units have drain trap you can clean,if so you can clean it out yourself but will make a huge mess if you don't pinch close the drain hose between the tub and pump.

sticky relay? Tap the relay and it may be a quick fix.

check / replace the start run capacitor for the motor have a electrician do it or a service technician if you do not recognize it it is normally up near the control panel

Most washing machines have a safety cut off switch activated by the lid to prevent injuries when the lid is opened when the machine is spinning. There is a prong that cuts the circuit to the machine when it is in spin cycle and the lid is opened. Try looking for the prong (it usually looks like a fang) and press down on it. The lid has probably become loose over time and the prong does not properly sit in the hole well enough for the contact to be established. Hope this helps.
