I can twist the head of my Mini Maglite to turn it on and off but I can't unscrew it completely to replace the lamp. It tightens up like it has run out of threads.

Stand it lens down and squirt WD40 down the gap and leave it standing overnight. That is the way the head comes off. My guess is that it is binding on the o-ring.

Maglite 3-d batteries will not unscrew battery access cap. even used rubber for grip and use of channel lock pliers. all aluminum model.what else can I do to remove cap to access bat.

I'm gonna catch it for this but this is how I did it. Corroded batteries in the cylinder will eat and seize the aluminum threads on the end cap and it's pretty much toast after that. What I did was drill, yes drill a 0.125" (1/8") hole exactly .25" (1/4") above the seam between the end cap and the tube .0125" (1/8") into the tube. No more than that or you will jeopardize the integrity of the waterproof factor. Drop one drop of a quality penetrating oil, or even diesel fuel, into the hole every hour while randomly tapping the tube with a metal object to create a vibration to help the penetrating oil travel throughout the threads and dislodge the corrosive hold on your end cap. It might take a couple of days to loosen it up and try it with your channel-locks and a lined vice or strong wife. Just plan on gaining 1/32" movement and go back and forth until it gives up the grip. That process might take another day too. Keep adding the drop of penetrating oil along with the tapping religiously. It WILL work provided your patience holds out. Don't force it... well, not too much anyway. You can actually save it this way.

Corroded batteries stuck in a mini AA maglite

yes the bulb assy can be removed as it's basically the switch you need like a special tool for removing it. but first which brand of battery is in it. both energizer and Duracell have warranty about replacing item that the battery has damaged. try that route is my suggestion before trying to remove batteries and possibly breaking the switch. you can get one sent to you by calling up customer service as i replaced one before mini mag lite also.

Keeps blowing new bulbs

Since this is a simple construction flash light (no electronics) make sure you are installing the correct bulb for the voltage of the batteries.
If you use a bulb that is for a 2 cell (3.0 volt) in a flashlight that takes 4 cells (6.0 volt) the bulb will burn out every time.

How do I get swelled and leaking battery's out?

I found some info on this site...

"Sadly, when a dry cell leaks, the leaking chemicals react with the torch casing, as you have noted.
With all Maglite torches I have ever seen, you can remove both ends of the cylinder which encloses the batteries.
In this situation, get a broom handle or wooden dowel, just a bit smaller than the torch battery diameter, and after soaking the cylinder/switch assembly cylinder in hot water (boiling if you can) for an hour or two, give that inserted dowel a few taps with a large hammer or mallet.
Normally the leaking battery comes out easily, providing you let it soak in hot water long enough to soften the corrosion products.
Once you have gotten out that battery, leave cylinder soaking overnight, and use an old toothbrush to remove the last of the oxide etc , and allow to dry thoroughly.
As a tip for next time - to save you all this bother: Oil or grease the inside of the torch cylinder, and re-coat with oil (silicone grease is best), each time you replace batteries.....smiley-cool.gif"

hope this helps you.

My mini-mags won't stay on after about 3 to 4

Replace the lightbulb with LED, you can get those bulbs at Wallmart. Also, replace battery with long lasting ones, not the cheap ones.

I had my mini Maglite taken apart and a small

There are 2 tiny clips that hold the bulb in and make contact with the rim of the barrell. They can be difficult to get back in without prying the plastic piece out of the end. Once you pry it out, it never works the same.

Mini Maglite not working

You could have dirty contacts if the batteries were in for a long time and you never used it. The contacts are: (1) the tip of the spring and (2) where the positive end of the battery touches way inside the flashlight. You can try and clean them with alcohol. If you think it might be the bulb, try the spare. There is a spare bulb under the spring you see at the base of the flashlight when you install the batteries, you have to pull the spring out and then snap it back in after you get the bulb out. And yes, positive end goes in first in the Maglite. Hope this helps.

My Mini mag AA worked until I took it apart to install an LED kit

Start with a new mini-mag and put the upgrade in it. It will save you the frustration, especially not knowing for sure whether their is a missing part or not. Plus it will save the hassle.

Where can I find replacement parts for my rechargeable lantern?

It's great that you're looking to revive your rechargeable lantern! Here are some steps you can take to find replacement parts and ensure your lantern is in working condition:
  1. Check with the Manufacturer: Start by contacting the manufacturer of your rechargeable lantern. They may offer replacement parts for your specific model, including the light tubes. You can inquire about replacement batteries as well.
  2. Search Online Retailers: Look for online retailers specializing in selling replacement parts for lanterns and flashlights. Websites like Amazon, eBay, or specialized outdoor equipment stores may carry the replacement light tubes you need. Make sure to check if they ship to Canada.
  3. Visit Local Hardware or Outdoor Stores: Explore hardware stores, camping supply stores, or outdoor equipment retailers in your area. They may have replacement light tubes or similar products that are compatible with your lantern.
  4. Consider Universal Light Tubes: If you cannot find the exact replacement light tubes for your lantern, consider purchasing universal light tubes that fit the size and specifications of your lantern's sockets. Be sure to measure the dimensions of the sockets and compare them with the specifications of the replacement tubes.
  5. Test the Battery: Before purchasing replacement parts, it's a good idea to test the battery to see if it still holds a charge. If you have a compatible charger, you can try charging the battery and observing its performance. If the battery no longer holds a charge or shows signs of leakage, you'll need to replace it.
  6. Inspect for Damage: Since the lantern has been in storage for several years, carefully inspect it for any signs of damage or wear, especially around the battery compartment and electrical components. If you notice any corrosion or damage, it's best to address those issues before using the lantern.
By following these steps, you should be able to find replacement parts for your rechargeable lantern and get it back into working condition. If you encounter any difficulties, don't hesitate to contact customer support or seek assistance from a local retailer.
