Western Digital 1TB WD ELEMENTS USB 20DESKTOP EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE - Page 5 Questions & Answers
What tipe of hard drive can i buy for my motherboard mcp61pm-am
Hello Hector,
your motherboard supports:
2 x Ultra DMA133/100/66 devices(IDE)
4 x Serial ATA2 devices (SATA)
IDE is somewhat antiquated at this point but is supported, I would recommend using the SATA ports instead due to higher performance. Drives of this type can be purchased at any computer shop, most big box stores and any online parts store.
Hardware failure -36, 2747
I have a DROBO which I am trying to recover with DiskWarrior.
When I connect the DROBO and try to run DiskWarrior, I get an error -36 "hardware failure".
I can hear the DROBO doing "stuff".
If I wait several hours until the DROBO is quiet, then DiskWarrior doesn't get the error, and I can try to recover it.
Scratched my head over this for a while, so figured I would post the solution in case anyone has the same problem.
All the forum posts are about dead disks.
My disk isn't dead, it just has a sick filesystem, as proven by the fact that if I wait long enough, DiskWarrior can try to do something with it.
The disk activity was a clue.
I suspected that TimeMachine or something else on the mac is trying to fsck the file system in preparation for mounting. Unfortunately that takes HOURS on this large volume full of time machine backups.
So opened Terminal and typed: ps -ef ' grep fsck_hfs and there was the culprit:
0 67332 18 0 6:26am ?? 1:02.06 /System/Library/Filesystems/hfs.fs/Contents/Resources/../../../../../../sbin/fsck_hfs -y /dev/disk5s2
To kill it, type kill followed by the second number from the left, in this case: kill 67332
The disk activity stops, and you can then run DiskWarrior.

Why windows does not see drive with data on it
It may because you either deleted the drive and did not re assign a drive letter to it, or it may be due to format, when you using Windows OS, your hard disk should be either in FAT or NTFS format, if you have linux as secondary os, you may have accidental format the drive with linux OS. Try changing the format to NTFS or FAT. Try and reply back
Pc hard disk problam
Try some of the free data recovery software to see if they can read it.
Recuva, PhotoRec and other decent free programs as a start.
WD1200B015 not working after falling from desk. How do i fix it?
HDD specifications are usually only up to ONE G, where "G" is 1x the force of gravity.
By dropping it, you hit that "One G" mark and the HDD is now officially "toast".
If there are truly important files on that dead HDD, you can send it away for forensic recovery, but that can be incredibly expensive.
Wish I had better news, sorry.
Purchase a SOLID-STATE Drive (SSD) to replace it. The specifications on those can be something like 5x G's or more.

The Blue light remains on if every things OK. Did you install WD Discovery? Then Map network drives. Then try installing/setting up again.
Bitlocker recovery key
This is too broad a question. Do you know it? Do you need to make it? Do you need to retrieve it?
