First test this: remove the ribbon close head if the error goes away it is not your sensor. Most of the time someone has loaded the ribbon on a little to hard and broke the plastic tab that insure it loads correctly. With the tab gone you may get lucky and load it right sometimes and other times not this is why some ribbons work and some do not.

this silver plate is the "print head open" and the media sensors.

This is not an error, it is a notification that the head has been open and is now closed. If you get Head Open warning when the head is closed check the metal area over the top of the sensors are clean as it is reflective.

u can do it yourself. u just need a screwdriver to do that, loose the scew on the top of the head, the plug off the cable from the head

The 160S has a different main logic board, which the processor is different. I wonder if you could try and open up the cache. There is a ZPL command for that, which is COY. You can find this in the ZPL programming manual on the website. I can supply the link if you are still in need of a fix.

in printer settings there is option for the no of copies in that option you need to set 2 then it all give u two copies of label or just swap u r printer to another machine and then check its working properly or not ?

It sounds like you may have loaded the ribbon incorrectly.

It seems like you have a bad upper/lower media sensor or you need to adjust or clean it. If you remove your media and ribbon from the printer you will see two sensor's right behind the printhead. Printhead will need to be in the open position to see them. They should be emitting a red light. Clean and recalibrate. If that doesn't work it should the two sensors. They come in a kit. And just to be on the safe side you can call in to my technical support team to verify that is your problem. Its Free as long as parts that are needed are ordered thru us.

Check the label size in the application is not too big for the actual label, grab a ruler and check. If this is OK then re-calibrate the printer via the Menu system and try again.

fennell193: The margins can be adjusted inside label software also drivers. Alse check inside printer top offset and left offset.

david_tate: You must have open design files in LM8 and Save As with LM7 format. When open a LM7 format, the program prompt if you want to save in LM8 format, you must say no. Also you can setup user privileges for they cant save files.

The description is long. So I am not giving it here al. But I will give solutions and reference to the user guide. Below pages refer to this user guide. You should also visit page number 74, 65, 63, 31, 29 also for different kind of adjustments.

Adjust the reflective sensor position. See page 11.

Set the printer for the correct media type. See page 41.

Ensure that the media guides are properly positioned.

Via the front panel, locate the "SENSOR SELECT" menu

item (page 41) and manually select the correct sensing

method.

Reload the media. Check the reflective sensor position

(see page 11).

Clean the platen roller according to the instructions on

page 56.

gerry401: Maybe this is an mainboard intermittent failure or a hot failure. You can do nothing. Use the printer until total failure occurr.

archelle man: If this lines are darker, then the problem is in the ribbon. Try with another ribbon and decrease the print darkness.
