If you contact Korg, they can send you a dowloadable link to burn the software to a disc.

up to you if you ant to spend the money to have it diagnosed and repaired

The buttons are damaged or defective. Replacement may be the only answer.

Might be a case of opening up the M50 as the previous poster did and wiggle connectors and components until the sound is affected. If you have some electronics experience, it should be fairly easy to figure out which board to investigate.

Try resetting the software.

I think that the entire touch panel and everything has to be replaced then fully.

Initialization: Hold Page + and Page - while turning it on. Preload: Global Screen 5A, then select "OK". ROM Check: Hold Edit and Global/Multi while turning it on.

Maybe because the battery needs to be replaced.

Right away or after it's been working awhile? Try coolant spray on power supply components.
