This machine arrived not working at all. Soon discovered the hard disk was faulty. Bought and installed new 80gb, re-loaded Windows Xp. Run some checks and it was when I was restarting that I relised there was no sound. No sound from speakers or headphones. Any help would be appreciated. I have no manual for it so I was wondering if anyone knows if the sound is onboard, I dare say it is. In sound control panels it does state there is no device!! Thanks in advance. Kaiser
If you used restore disks from the manufacture it would include things like drivers. However if you used an off the shelf xp disk it wouldn't and you would have to find drivers from Microsoft or the manufacture. It sounds like you are missing the drivers, but to double check do this: right click on my computer select properties click the hardware tab and then the button at the top device manager. If you see some yellow exclamation marks or some red 'x's you are missing the drivers. And if control panel says there is no device your missing the drivers. It seems as though LG doesn't offer any support for this model on their site so you need the drivers from another source try a Google search or go to a web site called driveragent.com they have tons of drivers but it does cost money to get them from there. i need to turn the web cam on and i am not sure how to? on my LG E500
the problem is solved simply by hitting the key Fn+F10 in order to activate the cam.

There should be a soft key just above the cursor pad. You will need to turn that on. This will unlock the cursor. Good luck
