Simac 4050 Il Gelatao Magnum 1 Quart Ice Cream Maker Questions & Answers
What causes the simac il gelataio to quit churning?
If you give the paddle a nudge, will it start ? If so most likely the big capacitor inside the machine. This capacitor will kick start the motor. If it is gone, the motor does not get enough power to get going. It is easy to replace once you have the cover off and should cost around $7.

Simac gelataio magnum plus machine does not get cold or freeze.
If the outer tub does not chill down, then the refrigeration is gone. CHECK that the airflow from the vents is active and free of obstruction.
If the tub starts to chill but the product tub doesn't get cold enough, you may have forgotten to put the Gin or suitable alcohol transfer medium in the outer tub.
What is causing the grinding noise with my Il Gelateo Super?
I have an old Simac as well , & the same trouble , grinding in a surging sound,, we opened the trhtings, the moto is good, but the base has been broken . It looks like a star shaped cage for the motor, not centralized , causeign the gear to crack & eventually to go. I am looking for the spare part as well. Will let you know . PS the newee version is 4050 il gelato Magnum. Mine is Il Gelato 2380.
I am trying to repair
some of these machines are just not worth repairing at times as the problem is spare parts ,now if it was a carpagarne or however its spelt then parts are available from italy direct from the factory but this machine i have never heard off ,if you cannot locate parts from the internet then chances are they are not available ,the bearings are not a problem as a auto factor will most likely have them or a timkin agent will have equilivent ,a engineering shop can and should be able to re manufacture parts in stainless for the machine if their willing and able .but i do know these soft ice cream machines cost a arm and a leg and i dont know why
"tip it on the right
I absolutely agree! I had the same problem with this answer -- the question of which "right" side to tip it onto.
Answer: You tip the machine over onto YOUR right side when you are viewing it from the front (with the bowl and bowl lever release closest to you).
I found this out after some internet sleuthing when I found another manual for a similar machine as the Simac Il Gelataio Magnum Plus (which is what I have), and it also says to "tip it on its right side", but I believe it had an illustration or something definitive like that which made me feel certain as to which "right side" it should be. Of course, different models COULD be different, but I figured if Simac/Lello is writing "on its right side" in all different manuals, they probably mean the same thing across the board. Anyway, it convinced me enough to try it on my own Simac and it worked, so my conclusion must be correct!
Hope this helps! :)
