These torches run on 4 AA size batteries. The body of the flashlight has a threaded section you unscrew to get to the batteries. Look at the button end of the light. There should be two 'ribbed' sections roughly where your ring and little fingers would be when your holding the light normally. Twist these in opposite directions and the button section should unscrew like a normal bolt thread. This will reveal a plastic 'cartridge' that holds the 4 batteries. *Note* Look carefully at the actual batteries before you drop them out of the cartridge. They are fitted a certain way around so make sure you get your +'s and -'s the correct way around. To refit drop the cartridge back in the same way around as it came out. Then check the button section still has it's 'O' ring seal in place and screw it back on. There are springs inside the light so you might need to push the two parts together as you twist. Once you get the screw threads lined up it should go on easily and stop when hand tight.

Though the Torres del Paine is the most popular route in the region, the Fitzroy trek is certainly a worthy contender for being the most beautiful.

With jagged peaks and unique rock formations, it is easy to fall in love with the scenery here. Fortunately the trail is also a relatively straightforward route. BATTERY INSTALLATION: The HX5R features our Dual Power Recharging system and can be powered by a rechargeable battery pack or a standard CR123 alkaline battery. To install the rechargeable battery pack, unscrew the body of the light (near the power button) counterclockwise and place the rechargeable battery pack into the light in the direction indicated by the arrow on the battery pack; arrow towards the front of the light. Replace the body of the light and turn it clockwise to tighten it until it is fully closed. To operate the light with a standard CR123 battery, place the battery into the light in the direction inside of the light. This is quite difficult and fiddly. The fuse unit is situated above where the cassette gets inserted. Remove the cassette and at the top front left hand side you will see the wiring in the cavity. This will give you access to the fuse unit and reed switch. I am assuming the toilet won't flush. If this is the problem then the answer is above. If the problem is the light will not illuminate when full then it is the reed switch that needs replacing or by passing. Hope this helps.
