Cannot format my micro sd memory card. What to do?

Preformat : By Fix-shad0w

#1
Insert your memory card into your computer's reader if you have one. If not, you can purchase a multi-format USB Memory Card reader from Amazon.com or Buy.com
#2
Open up 'My Computer'. You should see it under the list of available drives.
#3
Check its contents first to make sure that you have the right drive.
#4
In 'My Computer', right-click on the drive and choose 'Format'.
#5
Leave all the options as they are and click on 'Start'. This is a non-reversible process so make sure this is what you truly wanted to do in the first place.
#6
Once the process is completed, take the memory card out and insert it into your Digital Camera or any other device. Try to browse to it to make sure it works fine now.

My transcend 2GB pen drive is detect only in linux only

First, try the cord and the I POD on another machine. If that all works, then it's the machine. If that's the case, try this:

Unplug ALL USB devices.
Open Device Manager.
View, Show Hidden Devices.
Uninstall all devices under USB Controllers.
Uninstall all devices under Storage Volumes. Say no to any reboot prompts until you are finished. Also, if a Storage Volume doesn't uninstall, ignore it and move to the next one.
If you have a yellow ? with unknown devices, uninstall all of the entries there as well.

When this is done, reboot TWICE.

Reconnect the USB devices and see if they're recognized properly.

Please rate me if this solution works for you

Thanks......Have a great time

I can't format a micro sd card. when it will

The problem may be virus problem in the system or in the chip or may be any logical problem in the chip.First you should check whether the micro SD card is working or not(can you store and delete from the chip) i.e. you must check whether there is any hardware level problem or not. So please use the chip in a different computer system (be sure the system is virus free) - don't open the drive (icon) of the chip. When system will detect the device directly right click and try to format it. If the there is no hardware level problem in the chip - then there is another method to remove this problem. You should insert in a system with Linux OS. Then you'll be able to delete all the unwanted (problem creating files like autorun.inf etc) along with other files and be sure the chip is really free and no system or hidden file is there. Now you may bring the chip in a windows system (having no virus in the system). Try to FULL format the chip it will definitely format the chip without giving any error.

Write protection on 8 gb pen drive

1. Open Start Menu >> Run, type regedit and press Enter, this will open the registry editor.
2. Navigate to the following path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies

Note: If the registry key StorageDevicePolicies key does not exist, you will need to create it
Download this batch file called add.bat from here, and double click after download the key will be automatically added to registry.

3. Double click the key WriteProtect in the right pane and set the value to 0 in the Value Data Box and press OK button

google_protectAndRun("ads_core.google_render_ad", google_handleError, google_render_ad); 4. Exit Registry, restart your computer and then again re-connect your USB pen drive on your computer. That is it, done.

After a lot of user comments telling that the above method does not work for them, we tell you another method which you can follow to solve the “Pen Drive is Write Protected” problem.
If the above method does not work for you, follow the below steps:
1. Copy all the important data from this drive to your computer because this method will format the drive and erase all the data on the pen drive.
2. Now download the Apacer Formatting Utility, Unzip this utility to a folder on your hard disk, preferably on a folder on desktop screen for easy access (Do Not Try To Save it on pen drive). Keep your pen drive plugged in, and double click on the Start.bat file in the folder where you unzipped the above utility. This will start formatting your pen drive, wait till the formatting completes and the LED on your pen drive stops blinking. Remove your pen drive after than and plug it in again.
The above two steps will solve the problem. If you still face the problem, follow the below steps:
1. Goto Start > Run, type cmd and press enter, this will open command prompt.
2. Type the following command on the command prompt replacing X with the drive letter of your pen drive.
CHKDSK X: /F
The above two methods will help you fix the problem.
Note: For all those who are out of luck in fixing the problem with their portable drives, I would suggest you to get your drives checked or replaced by the manufacturer to fix it for you
