Ann, try plugging printer in and see if computer does a self installation. If not you may have to turn security off to install.

The printing is blurry. How can I fix it?
I would start by cleaning under the print head. You could have some dust that's causing the blurring.
You can also run a "cleaning cycle" and a "head alignment" which may help.
How to clear the FAX memory in a Canon MX 410
I had the same problem, I own a Pixma MX410, first there is no need to turn off or unplug anything, simply go to your fax button then use the > < arrows to get to advanced fax from the menu button, then go to print reports; then smply print out the reports and then presto all of these reports come printing out and the blue Fax Memory light vanishes. What happened is that at some earlier point someone attempted to fax and it did not go through so it is store in the memory just waiting to be printed out. hope this helps you

Dog knocked printer to floor. Now printer cartridge carrier won't move. Getting error 5100. Unfixable?
Hi Laura, Most likely the jolt from falling to the floor must have knocked the ink cartridge carrier out of alignment or jammed it along the carrier rail...have the dog knock it over on its opposite side...no, no, no- just kidding!!
Using a flashlight, can you see any obstructions, pieces of paper that may have jammed, or any broken pieces?
I don't know how long you've had this printer for, but if you have to send it out for repair and it's going to cost more than 50% than buying a new one, don't repair it; you're throwing good money after bad...btw, dog proof the new one...ARF! Hope this helps :)
Dog knocked printer to floor, now printer cartridge carriage won't move. getting error 5100.
The sligtest burst in the plastic, or a rail out of place will stop the smooth movement of the print head.
When you can't see an obvious error, like a tube out of place and you can't put it back, I'm affraid you should start saving for a new printer. The error should go away, as soon as the print head can move again (and correct) and you did power down the printer once.
Don't blame the pinter, no printer will survive a fall. Don't blame the dog, he / she did not see it in time.
How do i fix the automatic doc feeder, not working
Does it do anything? Did you try any of the suggestions below offered to others with auto feed problems? If none of those suggestions help you may want to reinstall your printer on your computer. Beyond that you may have to do single page scanning on the scanner.
