Status light is red

Hi, Based on your post/description, the Siemens AP/Router is at fault. This could have been brought about by lightning, power surge, plain hardware failure or system/software error. The red status light - on indicates an error (on the firmware)(blinking during start-up or when firmware is being downloaded/updated); WAN light blinking green - data transmission to/from your ISP (it is also possible that the router is trying to download corrective software or firmware update). Suggest you let it run for sometime just in case it is really downloading/upgrading firmware. If full reset of the router doesn't correct the problem, you may have to replace the unit. Good luck and kind regards.

On the back of the wireless router will be a little black button some can be hard to see but they all have one somewhere pressing this button for 5 seconds will force the wireless router to reset and remove all password and configurations that was set by the user of yourself after this has been reset you will need to log into your wireless router by either looking at the faint writting http://routerloging.net or something similar to this or by the ip "internet Protocols" 192.168.1.100 and re-setting up the encryptions and security along with the passphrase for the wireless

I HAVE SPEEDSTREAM 6520 AND

The only way to get in to the router without password is to reset it to factory reset. RESET will bring all the settings back to what it was when you got it out of the box. Any custom settings will be lost and you will need to input them back in to settings (like your wireless network name or SSID, password and any open ports). Reset is done by pushing is little reset button (little round hole) that is usually on the back of the router and most times it says reset or it is different color than color of the router. You can use a pen or little screw driver but make sure not to press too had so you don't damage it. Router needs to be on and then when you push in the reset you need to hold it in for 30 seconds (make sure it is 30 per clock not just your count to make sure it worked). Once time is up just remove the pen or what ever you used and you can now log in to your router with default user name and password. This is probably on the paperwork you got with the router. If you don't have it just Google your model and most times you can find it there. If not you might have to call support and just ask them. Hope this helps.

I need to retrieve my password on the Speedstream 6520 Router.

not possible to retrieve a password! that's why they are secure... if you have your ISP ADSL setup details you can reset the router to factory default and reprogram it from scratch, or call their help desk BEFORE you do it and ask them to email you the connection details before you start. then WRITE the password on a label and stick it to the router.

I cannot get my SS2624 to communicate / function

You will have to remove from power and, do a HARD Reset of the router. After this you will have to set it up from the beginning again, just like you did when you first got it. Go to your browser and set it up. Also perhaps it may be best to disconnect from Phone jack, plug in the cable from Modem, to router, plug in and power up modem, plug in and power up the router, set up modem, set up router.... from PC.

If you have a good IP address, re-boot the router. If your address starts with 169., then you don't have a good IP address.

Automatic installation failure

unless you were switching from DSL to cable Broadband, there usually wouldnt be much reason to rerun the software just because you got a new computer. when you ran the software the first time on the other computer, it was the router you were setting up, not the computer.
if the new computer is not getting internet when hooked to the router, try this.

1.turn off computer and unplug electricity from router and cable modem.

2. connect all ethernet cable to the right location. ethernet from modem to router goes in the non-numbered port, ethernet from your computer to router goes in numbered port.

3. plug in cable modem electricity first, wait for all its lights to come on like normal.(this part is important). the ethernet light on the modem (it might be labeled ethernet, link, pc link, or something similar) will not be lit, this is normal until you get to the next step

4. plug in the router electricity, give the router 2-3 minutes to get connected to the modem.

5. start up the computer, wait for everything to fully load and check internet again.

hope this helps.

Router Help

christsgirl;

Either get the person you got the router from to give you the pass phrase or try accessing the link on this site to get a manual

http://www.theusermanualsite.com/manuals/mfg/siemens/siemens_bridgerouter_product_list.html

The instructions to reset the router will probably set the entire router back to the factory default configuration. After which you will need to configure any changes required by the ISP into your router.

Dougerus -- you might be able to help Robbyn by telling her what your manual says about resetting the router. In your case are you following the instructions to reset the router completely? CHECK THE MANUAL you may need to hold the reset button for several seconds for a reset. A short push might only reboot and not reset the router.
