We bought this player almost 5 years ago, and have the same problem. When we called audiovox at the time they told us that it was because some of the dvd mnufacturers had changed the format/technology in which they recorded the dvd programs. The biggest problem was with the Disney dvd's. Also, that they did not have any software upgrades at that time to upgrade the player. We used it for a while with the hit and miss movies that it would play, and then finally shelved it and bought a minivan with a preinstalled dvd player. Very rarely use the audiovox now.
