4.5 quart. Why doesn't it turn on?

It is not turning on because the power is not getting through the entire circuit. First easy thing to check is the carbon brushes under the black screw caps on the side. If they are worn out just replace them. They are keyed with one corner shaved off so line the key up with the blocker inside the hole where the brush goes. Use a torch to look in there to see it in one corner right at the bottom. You could also remove the back cover and make sure there are no broken wires there, it's not uncommon for one of the bottom wires to break off by the plate they plug on to.

Grinding sounds

The case screws can come loose and grind on the planetary. To see if that's the problem you need to pop the chrome drip ring off that covers part of the planetary. It's just a push fit, pop off with screwdriver tapped with a hammer.

Professional 600. What is the specific transformer required to step down 220v to 110v?

Check the wattage on your mixer and buy a step down transformer capable of delivering at least 50% more wattage so it is not struggling under load. If it is capable of even more it won't matter but they get bigger and heavier and cost more the bigger you go.

KitchenAid standmixer (professional 5 pro) makes clunking noise when attachment is in hub.Grinderworm (from food grinder) slips rotation regularly as well.Without attachment everything sounds normal.

Open the gearbox up and look inside, the damage will be obvious once you clean the grease away. You aren't going to fix it from the outside so opening it is going to be part of the solution.

Makes clunking noise when mixing

Hello Angelfyro72,

Does the machine make the same noise when there is nothing attached to it at all? I have a few suggestions but I need to know this first. I do not believe that it is a gear but actually in the backend of the unit. Please post back to this discussion thread.

Thank you for chosing FixYa.com

Oil leek on my kitchenaid

There is no oil as such in it. The grease is breaking down through age or not a lot of use and the liquid is separating from the grease solids. The grease is food grade so the liquid is completely harmless. If you don't want to wipe the drips off before you use it then the only solution is to dismantle the gearcase completely, scoop out the old grease and replace it with new stuff. Kitchen Aid will supply a tin of food grade grease as a spare part or a service agent can do the job for you.

Used my stand mixer one time and now it doesnt work at all

If it is only a month old take it back under guarantee, if you fiddle about you could void the guarantee. If it is out of guarantee I would be looking for a wire off the speed control plate under the rear cover. If someone has been fiddling about removing those black brush caps on the side they may have put a carbon brush back in wrong, they are keyed and only fit one way.

Bread paddle stops turning but the mixer still runs

Sounds like the fuse gear has failed. It is a plastic gear in the gearbox that is designed to fail if you overload the machine. It is to prevent more serious damage. Contact Kitchen to locate a service agent closest to you. They can sell you the part if you want to repair yourself or they can do the job for you. You need to open the gear cases to do the replacement.

Im getting shocked

Stop using the machine! Sounds like it has an electrical short and could be dangerous to continue use. If it's new, take it back to the store. If not, you might want to have a service technician check it out.Check this out on Fixya:http://www.fixya.com/support/t16655120-getting_electrical_shock_from_outside

Kitchenaid professional blade stops turning when meets resistance

Carol, if the beater stops turning under a load you are looking at gear problems. Depending on what model you have will depend on what gears need to be replaced. Most professional models have all metal gearing inside and must be taken apart and inspected to determine which part is bad, usually it is a combination of a few different gears. If you can get the model number off of the base of the mixer then we can look up the correct parts and get you a service manual for the mixer as well. Mixer doesn't work

There are a number of things to consider:The round ceramic resistor is bad.One or both brushes are worn out.The armature and/or stator windings are bad.A wire connection is no longer connected. The on-off switch is bad.The control board has a fault.Finding many replacement parts for for a K5-A is difficult but not impossible. The folks at WACEM may be able to help.If you join WACEM (We Actually Collect Electric Mixers), you can find (under Files) the K5-A original service manual. If the motor is working but the beater does not go round, it is most likely that the sacrificial worm follower gear has given out. These gears are essentially unchanged to the present day and are readily available. The Service Manual shows how to change it.https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/WACEM/info

KitchenAid ACCOLADE 400 Mixer. When mixing dough the bowl jumps out of the the bowl lock. How can this problem be resolved?

I know this sounds a bit simple but the bowl cup can sometimes actually wear out and a very fast (# screws) and a new one and the problem is solved. If however there is a problem on the head hold down set screw (under the mixer in the cavity ) it can come loose then the mixer head can bounce all over the place causung the bowl to get loose in the holding cup at the base of the mixer., I hope this helps, let us know if you need more, we can FixYa
