SOLUTION: This was happening to us for over 6 months, lately its every few minutes, i just figured out its due to faulty front touch pad, if you open the unit and remove front face of the player, remove the single small ribbon wire that connects to front touch pad, leave the other little ribbon wire as this is for the remote control IR receiver, only the remote control can work with this now obviously.

I Could help you more if I knew the Model Number of your Samsung Smart TV. But to be short, try checking the audio menu of your television, and turning off internal speakers and switching the audio to external output. The smart TV should detect the kind of audio system you have connected to it.

If you connect via the headphone jack you will need to adjust the TV volume to a lower setting to avoid distortion/./ The The problem is that the optical output connection is a digital connection and depending on the digital format the Digital to Analog converter may not be a configuration that the audio stream to the stereo required for the tv/vcr in. How does the audio sound using the Samsung Smart TV internal speakers> Also under menus/audio/settings you may need to change the Optical output to stereo.
