you can run 2 subs given that you dont go over 2 ohms of resistance and that the subs are rated at 1000 watt max each around 4 or 500 watt rms. if your not sure about ohms dont bridge it and get single voice coil subs. this amp is capable of about 700watts constant power 1200 max spike if the voltage stays at 12 or higher.

yes you have a internal fault of the amp. the circuit that puts it into safe mode is bad and that is a very small chip on the board know as a op amp. needs to be repaired.

Do you mean that it actually over heats and shuts down? If it does then make sure you aren't trying to over drive it or underdrive the impedence. A good suggestion for cooling is get some 1/4" spacers and space the amp up off of the surface you mounted it too. I did it when I had my 2 Memphis M-Class 500Ws and just doing that they were cooler. Also make sure it is not mounted in a restricted air flow spot. If it is put some cooling fans by it to circulate some of the air. Let me know if you need some more help. Good luck.
