Kenwood security code
Hi Nancy
Oh
bugger.... looks like I miss out on that kiss :( You DO need the remote to clear the code. There is no reset button on the unit to bypass this either unfortunately. What I can suggest you do is to go to a
kenwood agent or car audio installer and sweet talk them into entering the reset code for you. They often have a remote or can get one of of the box to help you out. You can find a procedure on how to do it
here. Sorry this is your only choice. I used to do it in the workshop on radios I was repairing, and sometimes they would have the problem after they reinstalled it, so I used to do it for people for free. You could perhaps get yourself a replacement remote to go with the unit, I suggest ordering it from the same guys that perhaps reset the code for you. It is worth having a remote. Much easier to work the unit whilst driving with the remote.. Again, sorry this
isn't what you wanted to hear. Please
don't down rate me for being the bearer of bad news.

I put in the security code but i dont know how to
This was answered on http://www.fixya.com/support/t4989381-kdc_mp728_car_stereo_dont_know
To the right of the six preset buttons on the face of the unit is a
small small concave reset button. Push this to reset the entire unit.
You will lose all your setting and the protection code will also be
reset. The factory default is not to use the security code, but I
recommend setting it to something you remember because this happens
often enough on Kenwoods.

It's not your dirty CD but dirt on the head. Canned air usually works
But if not, very gently use alcohol and once over the optical laser then use the other end of the q tip to dry it.
I do this all the time just as a precaution. Unfortunately Netflix sends me a lot of dirty disks. quite a few cracked, too.

How do you reset your stereo ?
there should be a pencil tip sized hole on either the front of the face or on the subpanel. if not, disconnect power to the radio for a few minutes.

How can i connect my ipod to my kenwood
If you dont have an MP3 or Ipod input, then the best way is to buy an FM transmitter. This device plugs into your cigarette lighter and when connected to the Ipod will transmit the signal to the stereo unit. this device is actually like a micro radio station that you have to tune in on the Kenwood. These units are available at Wal-Mart, K-Mart, or online at Ebay, and Amazon.

My stereo kicks off as soon asyou turn it on
Sounds like you have your constant power, and remote power wires mixed up. While your at it check all the connections and splices. Something is loose, maybe a ground as well.

Kenwood Kdc-MP7028 code
Hi Nancy
Sure I remember you... hard to forget a kiss(specially in here :) It is the "next track" button referred to, and you need to hold it down for 3 seconds or so on some models to get the process to work. Try that and see how you get on. It should solve the problem for you. I know this process works because I have used it many times before. Let me know how youy get on, and I will get back to you a bit sooner next time. Cheers

My kenwood problem
Password is working, but the radio seems to be going into protect mode and shutting down as soon as the main power to the radio is activated. This could be a bad power amp IC inside the radio or some other bad part causing it. No way to know for sure unless it can be put on a workbench and do some troubleshooting with a multimeter. But the most likely problem is the amp IC.
Let me know if you need any further help. If you are able to do any testing of the radio with a multimeter you would be best served to take it to a service center and let a technician look at it and give you an estimate for the repair.

Attenuator light always on... no sound
That light that stays on is not for the "ATT", it is just an indication that the unit has power. The problem with your radio is most likely the power amp IC inside the radio if you are using speakers connected directly to the radio from the speaker wires on the harness. If you are using an external amplifier for your speakers the problem will be either the electronic volume control IC or a muting transistor that has gone bad or the external amplifier is defective. There is no way to know exactly what is wrong without doing a few checks on the radio with a multimeter on have the radio on a work bench to be able to open it up and check a couple of things inside of it.
If you have a multimeter and a power supply (to turn the radio on while on a work bench) I can guide you thru the troubleshooting process to help you figure it out. But you will also need to have a soldering iron, solder, and solder wick to be able to remove the bad part and put in a new part.
Let me know if you will require any more help from me.

I have a kenwood kdc-mp7028 dont remmber the code
The procedure for clearing the code is below, but first you must understand that you must have the remote to do this procedure. Kenwood has designed these radios so that the only way to clear the code is by using the remote. I know this because I work at an authorized Kenwood service center and have done this procedure many times.
If you do not have a remote, or you can not buy or borrow one, the only other way to clear the code would be to take it to an authorized Kenwood service center and they will do it for a small fee. The shop I work at charges $25 for this, but it is up to each shop as to how much they want to charge.
Here is the procedure:
1. While “– – – –” is being displayed, press [ >>I ] key for at
least 3 seconds while pressing [AUTO] key.
This makes “– – – –” display disappear.
2. Using the remote controller, input “KCAR”.
Press remote controller [5] key 2 times (Input for “K”) and
then press [ >>I ] key.
Press remote controller [2] key 3 times (Input for “C”) and
then press [ >>I ] key.
Press remote controller [2] key once (Input for “A”) and then
press [ >>I ] key.
Press remote controller [7] key 2 times (Input for “R”) and
then press [ >>I ] key.
3. The security is released and the unit enters the STANDBY
mode.
4. If a wrong code is input, the unit goes into the Code Request
mode.
Since this is the only way and it is the correct way to clear the code, I would very much appreciate a FixYa! rating. It is the only reward we get for offering people like yourself this free information.
Let me know if you need any further help, like needing to know where you can buy a remote or whatever other questions you may have.
