When you disconnect your battery and then reconnect it again, it disables the radio. This is an anti-theft protection for your car radio. The enable your radio the activation code is in your vehicle owner's manual. If you do not have this code you need to go to your vehicle manufacturer's service centre and get them to enter this code for you.

You have two possibilities. You can try cleaning the contacts on the back of the radio and on the subpanel with qtips and rubbing alcohol or a pencil eraser. If that doesn't work, you may have bad solder connections on some surface mount resistors inside of the radio. If you are good at soldering they should be on the right front of the radio, you will have to remove the cd mechanism to get to them.

Hi David,A decent info page for this radio and options is at Crutchfiled. They seems to provide good / very good information on all the products they sell. Service and pricing is up to you. To use Aux inputs, you need to purchase and connect the optional Aux Input Adapter (picture below).Crutchfield sells these for about $20, and they plug into the jack on the rear of the radio. The jacks on the cables attached to the radio are preamp outputs - not inputs; and will not work as an input. Here's a link to the manual (free download). Good luck!

A few things it could be:

No disc has been loaded in the disc magazine.

CDs being used are burned, test using different media or an actual CD.

Very dirty or scratched CDs.

The CDs are upsidedown.

The memory wire is yellow. To hook it up you need to take it to a power supply that is always hot like straight to the battery. You can get the manual on the link below page 28 will tell you how to wire it.

If it is clicking, it sounds like it may have a broken or jammed gear.

In order for you to get the security code you will have to contact Kenwood and pay a charge of £10. You will need a copy of the receipt OR your driving license, the model number and your name, address and contact number so you can be contacted for payment.

If you bought the stereo before 2009 use this page.
If you bought it during or after 2009 then use this one.

You will need to visit an Authorized Dealer or service center for that product to get the unlock code reset. You can find a dealer listing on their website, or call them.

Every stereo has side clips.
Have you done this first step?
After you pull it out and finally disconnect all the rear stereo cords from the audio system.

If its a flip down, or a detatchable face, you can always try cleaning the terminals on the back of the face. If these are dirty, they can causebad connections.

there are probably bad solder connections on some surface mount resistors inside of the head unit. usually the are on the right side of the deck.
