The Kenwood KR-V8070 has no digital audio inputs; it only has analog inputs. If you need to connect a device that doesn't have an analog audio output, you will need an analog to digital audio converter. Sometimes it is dirt that has got in the works that causes these sorts of problems. You can take the top cover off the machine and give it good clean inside. You can use Servisol Video 40 to clean it with cotton buds. But before that check that there is no damage to the mechanism first.

It would be normal practice to connect the Equaliser via the tape in and out of the amp, to the Equaliser in and out. If you are using a tape deck, then that goes into the Equaliser's sockets for tape decks. I wouldn't use the Equaliser on any of the Dolby or other coded sound modes as it could effect the signal.
