Since the board is fryed, yes most likely due to incorrect voltage etc. Replace the mainboard or then you need to do very deep testing on it.
Or throw it away and buy a new one.

fired mean no more, u have to buy a new MP3 player, before buying new, you may try all possibilities could be done with your device. visiting of hp repair center is the best choice.

I don't know yet if I've solved it or not. It has been playing for approx.30mins. without a problem, but
all that I've done is recharge both of the batteries,( which were not showing empty) . What is the life
span for one of these batteries, and why should the music carry on?

My iriver is working again, no joke, i got it to work by hitting it off the wall! it broke when it fell on the floor so i just hit it off the wall after trying everything else.

You need to format again the HD and to reinstall software. Do a backup of files on your mp3 first.

full fathoms five it now lies

Tried connecting to computer minus the battery and the computer recognised it again. reinstalled battery and back to nothing so we have assumed we are in need of a new battery. Just need to seek out where these are available. If replacing the battery does not help, we'll get back to you!!! Thankyou

Read the manual - it has the unlocking instructions - just slide the switch again.

Not possible - sorry. You can check out the YouTube videos on replacing lcd screens for mp3 players, but these methods fail most of the time, because the lcd controller is also damamged in most cases.

You need to re-encode the video to a format / resolution / framerate the iriver will accept. You can look up specifics if you download your mp3 player's manual.

The older version of this tool works for me when I need to encode a video file to a format the mp3 player or pocket pc device will accept:

Reset, then get the latest firmware upgrade for the player

Disable auto-sync in Windows Media Player - Microsoft's website explains it far better than I can

Open Windows Media Player WITH the mp3 player connected
Highlight Sync, click on the arrow to bring down drop-dow menu
Select Set Up Sync
Uncheck box that says "automatically sync files to device"

Voila!

The EXACT instructions are on p.45 of the user's manual, but in general, you would transfer a txt file of the right format, and go to the text menu of the iRiver.

does it do that all the time during music play? or just when you move or touch the jack? if it does it all the time. they should be able to fix it under warranty. if it does it just when you touch the jack then its normal. RATE plz.

Reset the player, update the firmware, use the manufacturer's recovery tool, or use Windows Recovery Mode - these are the "soft" fixes.

If these fixes fail, then your problem is hardware and the player will need to be replaced. There is no repair svc that costs less than a new Mp3 player. You cannot replace the screen alone.

The problem was with the battery connectors which had retracted a bit when the battery was removed. I had to push them up a bit to get the battery to sit properly and for power to work.
