Need to remove this CQ-C730U from the car, can you
have a look if the surrounding black plastic area, will that come off to allow you to see the removal clips ?? Dont force it as you may damage it, but it should just lightly clip off.
Heres a tip for ya................
when ever i fit a new stereo in my car i never fix it in securly, i just slide it in the hole and leave it. Why i hear you ask !!....well if someone is going to break into my car to steal it i dont want them to smash **** out of my dashboard to get it, they have probably already caused damage getting in. If they make the effort getting in my car by force then they can have the stereo with pleasure, just dont destroy my dash aswell.

I have fm audio but no cd audio
i am assuming you are running audio through an amp. if this is the case you are probably using the antenna remote wire (solid blue) instead of the amp turn on wire (blue w/white stripe) to turn the amp on.

Yellow wire touched antenna no fuses blown . Weres
There isn't one. But the car has fuses and the dome, hazard, radio, orbody fuse couls have blown and caused this problem. While your cheakiing the fuses with a light ( test light) check them all. and the new correctly installed fuse will solve your problem and isolar=te this stray wire so it doesn't short again

I noticed an XM symbol on the faceplate. How do I
You will need to get the XM add-on that Panasonic makes in order to get the functionality I think you are trying to get. With an external radio, you could hook it into an Aux to get sound, but you would not have the options to change channels from the Panasonic. In order to do that, you will have to buy their add-on. I have a separate Sirius Radio, and I prefer it that way because the display is so much easier to read.

Is there a rset button?
Either in the bottom corners on the face or behind the face on the radio itself. Paper clip size hole.

Drained battery
you may have damaged the battery and may need a new 1 and also check the wireing on the dash board as the perminant live which is the yellow wire could be connected to the live which is the red wire on the radio which keeps the radio on even if the keys are out the ignition

Wont play cds
Hello ly2004sxt,
You do not need a code to play CD's in a Panasonic CQ-C7301U. The player handles the standard CD format and also plays burned CD's in WMA or MP3 formats. However, burned CD's in WMA format that contain copyrighted music are not playable. In this case the display will show "PROTECTED".
Hope this helps.

How do I take out my panasonic cq-c7301u so I can attach ipod?
You are on the right track. Those "little metal things" come in handy. Ensure you have removed any necessary aftermarket plastic framing. Many times with the new deck kits, we need to insert the plastic framing. Slide the tool on the side of the deck itself, so look carefully and be sure not yank on the deck. Let me know where you are at.

Not working
If you have a short anywhere it could have blown the amp. I've seen that happen when one of the speaker wires was exposed and touching ground.
