PANASONIC 36" TAU --- NEED HELP
Sounds terminal. Companies build things with "planned obsolescence" in mind. In other words. You buy a TV today, and the warranty says it's good for 4 years. 4 years and 3 months later, it dies.
I hope someone else can help you.
Good Luck!

Turning off PIP without remote
To turn off the "stuck" pip on a Panasonic tv without a remote:
1) Turn off the tv.
2) Then hold down the "Action" button on the front of the tv and press the power button.
2-b) Continue to hold down the Action until the tv powers all the way up, and the reset menu comes up - be patient.
Expected Reslut: Self check menu should appear.
Expected Reslut: The pesky pip screen will be gone!
If the self check menu does not appear, you did not hold the Action button long enough.
Simply begin from step one.
Thanks to Imhiro

Cant turn off panasonic PIP
To turn off the "stuck" pip on a Panasonic tv without a remote, turn off the tv. Then hold down the "Action" button on the front of the tv and press the power button. This will activate a reset and self check of the systems and voila! The pesky pip screen will be gone! This is on an approximately 10 year old regular crt "CT-xxxxx" series tv.

Turn off pip with remote
The original remote should have the PIP buttons on it--if a universal is being used you are out of luck----very few sets have the option in the main menu for this--it is almost always on the original remote only.

The picture on my 31"
It sounds like the tube has burnt out. Now that price of lcds have come down especially in that size class it will cost just as much to repair as it would be to purchase a new tv.

No remote (original or universal)
Hello
The remote sensor iniside your TV is faulty. This part can be located just behind the remote window at the front of the TV. You have to open your TV to access it. It will be either fitted directly to the main circuit board, or seperately with an other printed ciruit, soldered diretly to it and screwed on to the front cabin part along with front control push button switches. It will be a three terminal component, somewhat brownish black in colour. It can be desodered out and can be replaced with a new one. The component can be pruchased from most of the electronic sparepart shops at your town. It is very cheap to buy. if you have a concept of desodering and soldering, have soldering iron, you yoursef can do this replacement work at home. It is an easy work. Not a skilled one. when buying a new one, make it sure that the new one has the same number as orginal. Insist on same number, as eventhough it is very cheap component, its function is great with Tv circuits. Number will be printed in its body either by ordinary print or laser print. OK.

Tv cuts off then after a few min it comes back on
Hi,
Your problem is caused by dry joints and cold solder on the board. If you have a soldering iron and soldering lead open the back panel of your tv. Look for dry joints around the board especially on the power supply section.Cold solder is hard to spot, it is necessary that your working area have sufficient source of light or you may use a table lamp.
Hope it may help you.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya.
