Panasonic TH-42XVS30U 42 in. Plasma HDTV - Page 2 Questions & Answers
My Mitsubishi WD65731 65" 1080p DLP HDTV has scratches.
ive never seen a tv with a plastic cover on the screen (unless it just got unpacked) even if its just the screen rubbing polish into it wont hurt it! unless it has a hole in it down the the liquid crystal it could get in there and cause major problems but if that part is still working fine then buff away! the liquid crystal in all LCD's is between the two glass plates..then theres a thicker glass over the top.
hope this helps,ben

Plasma tv scratch
Things You’ll Need:
* Television screen cleaning products
* Cleaning schedule
* Microfiber cleaning cloth
Clean Your HDTV Screen Properly
Step1
Read the warning labels on all your household cleaning products. Even
glass cleaners might not be suitable for use on an HDTV screen, so
check the manufacturer's warnings before you apply anything to the
screen.
Step2
Keep chemical cleaners away from your HDTV on cleaning day. The harsh
chemicals found in most common cleaning products will actually cause
more harm than good.
Step3
Leave liquid cleaners under your sink when cleaning your HDTV screen. A
liquid cleaner, whether it be water or a chemical cleaner, will drip
down the screen and work its way into the interior of the TV, causing
damage to your HDTV. You will be able to easily recognize when this
happens, because your screen will develop smudges.
Step4
Use a cloth to clean the HDTV screen. Ideally, you should use a cloth
that is recommended for HDTV screens, computer screens and other
electronics. The word "microfiber" may be imprinted on the packaging.
Step5
Wet the microfiber cloth slightly. Just a hint of dampness is all you
need. If water runs out of the cloth, then it's too wet and will cause
smudges.
Step6
Develop a regular cleaning schedule for your HDTV screen. If you dust
the screen daily, or at least several times a week, with your
microfiber cloth, no other maintenance should be necessary. Not only
will frequent cleanings make caring for your HDTV easier, but they will
also enhance your viewing experience.
Step7
Prevent messes by asking family members and guests not to touch the
television screen. You should also try to make sure children with
sticky fingers do not come in contact with the screen.
Step8
Use a high-end cleaning product if you feel that regular dusting is not
sufficient. Top-of-the-line television cleaning products are ideal for
use on all HDTV screens, plasma screens, projectors and are safe to use
around children and animals.

I strached my plasma tv
G'Day!
If you've scratched the screen, the only way to fix it would be to replace it. There is no such thing as a patch or fix for such things. You'll need to call the manufacture to discover whether or not the screen is available. There are many LCDs and plasmas for which such parts are no longer available.
I hope I've provided you useful assistance and that this information
allows you to make an informed decision as to how to proceed from here.
Please be sure to vote on my response. I hope I've earned a good rating from you today.
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

I have a panasonic onyx
hello, make sure your ac power is correct as far as gounding and proper polarity.
some homes are wired incorrectly and the tv wont operate like this.
first step is to check your sockets with a (ground fault tester) its a small plug in unit with led lights that indicates if there any electrical fualt in your power lines.
if it isnt your wall sockets then it is inside your tv set. the media slot is for a media card it shouldnt have anything to do with your tv working or turning on.
if your not able to see a welcome screen menu when you turn it on, this indicates a shut down circut or power issue.
you may want to find a tv service center to check it for you
this is your best chioce.
hope this helps

Tv turns off light blinks
ok, the 12 code represents a major PCB main flaw in the main circuit board. it could be as simple as an IC issue or as large as as blown capacitors and resistors. this will require a qualified service tech for diagnosis and repair. i also suspect a problem with the power board as well. that blinking light is signaling that for sure.

Half screen activated only
When only a half screen is produced, it is usually a upper or lower buffer board, if the top half is blank then it is the upper buffer, and of course if it's the bottom half then it's the bottom buffer board

Random Side Panel Inputs
You either have a bad Main board or simply a bad touch control button in other word one of your side buttons is defective and it is blocking any other signal to the main board, but usually its a bad main board. In some cases ther is a FIRMWARE update from Panasonic, you may want to call Panasonic or check there website for any type of FIRMWArE UPDATE.
