WIFI uses RADIO, so range varies by distance and all objects it the way , line of site from PC to router. we wired all our TVs direct ethernet,, wifi is never good for this. Wifi can work, if distances are close. to the router. also learn to change the wifi channels, to those not overloaded in you hood. (run inssider app) and see what is UP. ok? we have gigalan jack on all walls near all PCs and TV. but I wired that my self. you really answered your own question ! the question is why is my wifi slow, answer it is... and the 2.4gHZ works better through walls so 5.8 is not a cure. here is a 1/2 cure ( wired best is 1, this is 2nd fiddle) buy any AP , access point box. move it to the weak floor. then set it to new SSID, wifi, say rover 2, not rover1 like at wifi #1 Use a unique SSID (broadcast AP name) set new password, and WPA2. (or wpa/wpa2) wire the new ACCESS point to the the router 1. using ethernet cable. now the new AP , is on the old weak floor. and is faster. you are not going to replace all appliances to faster wifi. wifi can also be jammed by you or neighbors. with baby monitors or old land line. mobile base stations and hand sets. (all this is legacy junk but can exist)

a BLue ray player by pansonic? way post to computers? the router seems dead. to me. I if ethernet works on other PC the then the DMP is bad. simple as that. if the ethernet fails on a PC and DMP player the router is bad. i guess you what the smart features to work that it? id give up, and buy Roku3,, and have 10x better experiences with say netflix, vudu, or hulu. that DMP has old , apps that are not working now. (obsolete) the Roku keeps that up to date full time and works like nothing else. be it the box or inside the TV. test the router first, we have gigalan to each room now in our house. test the router. make sure you gen get to the web on all router ports. ethernet.

the resets on modems are mostly done by your ISP i bet the own it and placed there , right? so ask them, it is their device, sitting there if brave , push the reset button found on it for 30 full seconds. called the long reset. that DOCSIS is remotely configured by the ISP. in fact they limit it speed,based on what you pay for month. so you are blocked from doing configurations. no problem stated, by you so no context of what is up.

Acer (gateway) has no index to that old PC.it is too old now most are not recycled.https://www.manualslib.com/g/gateway+sx2856.htmlthe old manuals missing can be found in 2 placesall scalper sites ($$$$)or manualdir.com (best of them all and free)PC made in 1999 , it is hard to track.i looked for spare motherboard, and AMIbios stamped 1999but is not the year made, 2009 is my guess. windows 7 loaded new.mobo made by FOXconnhard to carbon date it.the mobo value is $20 or less, i see the mobo for sale and can see all connectorson the bottom are labled and all are keyed.so did you use a flashlight and look first?

Gateway folded long ago. 12 years old today. (2004 made) old square screen. not good that. (today) but all old monitors die, all do, because of CCFL lamps. life is 5 years 24/7 used, or 11 hrs /day for 12 years, they die. possibly not but you might need the driver for the monitor to be made compatible with win 10 go to the monitor web page , select down load for your model and select win 10 os then down load and run you can do all of that where the scree is working and download to a usb stick then install that in the computer that you want the monitor on

it's now acer , china (Twain) bought the dead GW company. in 2007, so is just name now. There is an easy way, and there is a hard way. The easy way requires you to get access to her computer and download Everest Home Edition. After installing the application open it up and find out if you're currently using SDRAM, DDR, DDR2, or something else. You will have to match the memory in order for it to work together.

Now for the hard way. You will need to find a way to open the computer to take a peek inside. Pop out the memory stick(s) by opening the pins holding the memory shown in this picture. Afterward look at the bottom of the memory stick(s). You're looking for the noticeable difference between DDR and SDR as depicted here.

Once again, you will need to match the memory types to ensure that they will work together. Also, please don't insert an odd (3, 5, 7, etc...) number of memory sticks (1 stick being the exception), some motherboards can't handle it.

just need to go to a computer store and buy a replacement if you have never done this or taken the case off might want to have it installed. But if your handy with that type of stuff its not hard to change
