It sounds like the HDD is finished, it could not recover, you could see if a computer repair store can help, they have the tools and the software to take it further, but I would consider cost for the attempt.

Your recorder has proplem with the dvd writer laser module inside. The laser pickup unit in a dvd recorder has three type of laser diode in it one is for reading CD's the next one for reading DVD's and the last one for Writing laser which is used to record in the disc. In your case the writing laser diode is faulty. you have to replace the laser pick up assembly. In most of the DVD recorder DVD writers are use in this section like in the computer . It will be very difficult find out the laser pickup unit of the DVD writers. Also all dvd witers will not mach with the player. Try to get some help on this if there is some reparing shope near you. they will find out the correct DVD writer that fit it your recorder.

look on the face of the machine, near the dvd slot. what you are looking for is a tiny hole, the size of a pencil lead. some players, not all, have this manual release. If you are fortunate enough to have one of these little holes straighten out a small paper clip and use it as a wire to insert in the hole and release your dvd.
