This is a rear projection TV set. Therefore it has three CRT's in it and not a lamp or bulb like you see in a DLP tv. If tv isn't turning on it is most likely a convergence or power supply issue.


If you think you need a CRT then the part number is on the side of the CRT at the top. These are not easy to replace and are quite dangerous to handle if you have no experience.

I would not recommend any novice to attempt a CRT replacement.

If your TV looks 3D, warped, or distorted it likely has a convergenge problem.
If however it just looks dull, washed out, redish, or if it looks like objects on the screen have halos the fluid in the lens has soured.

3 blinks is indicating that the convergence has a problem The PT53WX53G convergence repair kit from www.tvrepairworld.com is the correct kit for your model. The kit contains the ICs, Resistors and the CD with repair instructions.

This is an indication that you have a problem on the power supply section or on the load because of the following reasons :

1. Over Voltage - the regulator might be cycling on over voltage due to lack of load (Open).

2. Over Current Protection - excessive load or faulty power supply cycling will trigger the over current protection circuit.

3. Leaky Capacitor - a dried up main filter capacitor or other filter capacitor in the power supply that is producing an out-of-regulation condition. A bad filter capacitor on the output of a series regulator may result in excessive/drop of voltage and subsequent shutdown. The unit will not go through unless isolated the faulty parts.

4. A problem with the microcontroller.

This is not DIY and quite technical. I've advice you to look for a qualified technician or send it to repair shop to troubleshoot the problem. Also to consider the dry joints that will do the same problem as what you encountered right now.

But first check if your unit is under warranty then avail it because the manufacturer of your unit will fix it for free or with a little charge only.

Yes,try cleaning your mirror inside of tv they do get real dirty, also clean dirt off of tube lenses there are 3 of them red,green,blue. these are your picture tubes. Thank You for using FixYa and Have a nice Day.

Projection TV sets have two very common problems. One is convergence ( 3D/Warped video) the other is CRT fluid ( Dull Video). Here are more details and solutions for both. Repair kits with instructions are also avail from www.TvRepairKits.com

Common Problem #1) Convergence has gone out

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....

• Screen looks 3D
• Colors don't line up
• One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
• Screen is bowed or warped.
• TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.

Common Problem #2) CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

unplug it and hold the power button for ten seconds then release and plug your tv back up it resets it and should fix your problem

The most common power is the main power board that goes bad on that set, and it is going to run around 500 on repairs. If it is a processor problem, then you need to leave it unplugged for 40MIN. and it will rest to normal, but if it don't you are looking at a repair job.

hi,
ur tv has problem with vertical scanning section. may be dry soldering or vertical output ic faulty.
check for any dry soldering in that section. mainly the soldering of vertical ic. if see or not re-solder the leads of the vertical ic . then check is the tv is ok or not. if complaint remains replace the vertical scanning out pout ic. it will be fitted on a aluminum heat sink in the vertical section. u can see the heat sink on which the ic is mounted in the picture ( in side the small green circle). if u need more assistance feel free to contact through fixya.

I have if you want them start to finish step by step instructions for this repair.

it does involve two things: getting at the parts and being able to unsolder and replace them; typical parts cost (I can tell you where) will be under 30 dollars.

Hello, your Panasonic rear projection TV might be due for some color convergence repair, there are some power amplifiers that overheat and begin loosing the color correction control.

could be faulty color guns [bulbs] in the back of the screen

3 BLINKS IS SHORT protection and most likely means a resistor near the convergence chips is bad.

Both of the STK-392-110 chips would have to be replaced along with the resistor.

Tv have a problems known as a convergence problems,it dead.The tv have colors lines R,G,B mis alignments,have colors shadows pictures or 3D pictures look alike?The tv convergence board have dead 2 STK convergence ICS and some or all of it resistors too.These parts on the tv convergence board,must be replaced to solved the tv pictures convergence problems.The shop,will cost u like $300-350 for parts and labors.

This set (model number indicated) has three picture tubes, it is quite possible something like dust or dirt is covering part of one, unplug set and remove back cover and wipe the three lens with a lens cloth or a paper towel with glass cleaner sprayed on it, look for anything obstructing any of the three lens.

First of all are you sure you were in the factory menu this step requires alot of known how!!!!!! By using your hand unit only customer controls can be reached unless you know factory menu setup. Which starts like this ,make sure antenna to cable then go to menu set sleep timer to 30 mins exit out now enter ch 124 then press v- down on tv you should now see on top CHK ,also these sets have double convergence patterens.if you were in factory set up for more information look in www.freelists.org techassist/09-2005 .let me know if you still need help.
