I had a similar problem with my 42 in Philips LCD HDTV.

Here was the problem. My Power Supply Board had several bad capacitors. I opened my TV (warranty was expired of course) and found four bulged capacitors on the PSB. Many major electronics companies Philips/Magnavox, Sony, Panasonic, and others were sold capacitors that failed in 2-5 years instead of 10-20. The capacitors fail prematurely due to a lack of preservatives. Unfortunately, they were installed in all sorts of devices and cause a wide range of failure problems.

Here are some options for you.

1. Have it fixed by a professional $$$$$$$??????? (Is it under warranty?)

Remember, TVs CONTAIN HIGH VOLTAGE AND CAN KILL YOU! Do this at your own risk.

2. Open your TV and find PSB. (The board that the power cord plugs into) Check for faulty caps. If you find some (bulged or leaking) bad caps replace the entire board. The entire board costs around $250 right now because they are in high demand right now. They can be found online. I would definitely shop around though.

3. Remove and then replace individual faulty caps. This takes some soldering skill.

Caps are inexpensive and if you can take care of it yourself it will save you hundreds.

This may be your problem. If you determine that it might be.

I have a Tip/How TO tutorial on this site that may also help. It gives step by step instructions for replacing caps on PSB #715t2432-2. If this is your board you are in luck. Here is the Link: Fixing the Philips Turns/shuts off on its own problem. I'm working on uploading pictures to help guide people though the process as well. Let me know if I can do anything to help.

Hope this helps and if it does please rate it accordingly. Good luck.

I have a Panasonic HDTV 1080i 52inch TV that is 6

Check the lamp. Detach the front cover, read the warning, unscrew the cover, look inside, undo the one and only screw you can find, and pull out the lamp module. (Without touching the lamp) have a look at the light. Can you see it smokey in colour, or is the filament broken? This is how the PT-50LC13-K that I found in the garbage behaved, and the lamp filament is toast. Just thought I'd share.

Yellow spot in middle of screen

Hi there,
We have the same exact problem with the same TV. We've only replaced the bulb once about a year ago. Don't know if it had anything to do with the fact that we now have a large yellow circle in the middle of our screen, which is about 7" round.
We only noticed the yellow mark about 4 months ago.
Hopefully someone will have a solution for us that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Paid $2100 for this set and are a little disappointed.

Whow to replace lamp on tv sony kdf-e60a20

Follow this procedure to replace the lamp:

1. Turn off the power on the main unit. Wait several minutes, then unplug
the power cord.
(The cooling fan will continue to operate for about two minutes after
turning the power off.)

2. Wait at least 30 minutes after unplugging the power cord to allow the
lamp to cool down before replacing it. To avoid being burned, do not
touch the lamp receptacle once the lamp has been removed.

3. Take the new lamp out of the box.
Do not touch the glass portion of the new lamp.

✍ Do not shake the lamp. Vibration can damage the lamp or shorten
its life.
✍ Avoid touching the front glass of a new lamp or the glass of the
lamp receptacle. This may reduce picture quality or lamp life.

4. Loosen the screws on the rear side panel.

5. Remove the front panel.

6. Pull out the lamp.
Loosen the right screw on the cover with a coin or similar object.

Remove the screw from the lamp cover. Pull down the cover toward you.

Unscrew the lamp and pull out the lamp horizontally.

✍ The lamp is very hot immediately after use. Never touch the glass
portion of the lamp or the surrounding parts.
✍ After it has cooled, place the used lamp into the empty box of the
replacement lamp. Never put the used lamp into a plastic bag.

7. Place the new lamp into its place, then tighten the screw.
Mount the new lamp securely. Failure to mount correctly may cause a
fire or the screen to go dark.

Push the cover back on. Make sure that the hole on the cover aligns with
the hole on the unit. Reattach the lamp cover by tightening the screw.

✍ If the lamp cover screw is inserted incorrectly, the lamp may not
operate properly. In such a case, remove the screw, insert it
correctly and then tighten the screw completely
✍ If the lamp cover is not reattached securely, the self-diagnostic
function may be triggered and the POWER indicator flashes three
times

8. Reattach the front panel securely.

9. Tightly screw the side panel in its place.

That is it. Thank you.

I have a universal remote

I too had a problem resetting my lamp time of my PT-50Lc13. My remote that came with the set lacked a PIP and SPLIT keys, BUT....my charter remote (that was obviously configured for my set via codes) has a PIP ability that we discovered some time ago. Instead of using the STANDARD remote, you can use a UNIVERSAL that has a PIP capability....has to be set up to work with your set first....you can hold down the VOL - key and the UNIVERSAL remotes PIP key for about 5 seconds and then you will receive a message stating that the lamp time was reset to 0.

I know this helps someone out there, and your welcome!
