Panasonic Ag-DV1000 mini DV deck shuts down after inserting tape

When there's a problem with the drive mechanism of a VCR it will shut down to prevent damage. All operations of a VCR are controlled by a computer chip. This is told what mode the mechanism is in by a Mode Switch. If this is faulty it can cause the machine to play up. Sometimes a spray of Video 40 on the mode switch can restore operation. However it will not correct the problem if the mechanism has any damage on it.

I have a AG DV1000 mini DV deck I can't turn

Hello, thanks for using Fixya.com
I would check another power source, if it still does not turn on you might have a bad fuse inside the unit witch would need to be replaced and inspected for cause of blow out.
Panasonic would take it under out of warranty bases you might want to give them a call and ask about a local factory repair shop. Most VCR and TV repairmen in your local area if you cannot find a factory service center would be your best bet.
I would not open the unit unless your knowledge fits your budget because of hazards and other occurrences can occur.

Need part or repair.

If I were you I would try and get a service manual for the model, this should give you the part numbers that will make it easy to track it down. Though by the sound of it the service centers sound like they want to replace the entire VCR mechanism, when it could be only one small part that needs replacing! You could hunt around on the web to see if you can get the manual free, but if you can't try Manuals in PDF.
They are very good.
Another place to try is Curry's Partmaster website. It will list all the bits for your model they stock!
True Panasonic parts supply sites are CPC and Willow Vale.
You should also list the fault on FixYa to see if the techs on here agree with the findings of the two places.

Unfortunately, all I know about Muncie is that I have relatives there. I'd go to the Panasonic website and use your zip code to locate a local authorized service center. Follow the link below and click on the "find a servicer" button in the upper right corner.

AG-DV1000 Mini DV... ERROR F09

I believe that this error message indicates that the heads are not spinning. The tape should be ejected. This unit requires a servicer. There are a number of reasons for the heads not spinning. Finding out the cause in your specific unit will require testing and measurements with test gear. There are no user serviceable parts inside these units. Please see an authorized Panasonic service center.
