Will only run about 20 seconds

I think this sounds like a fuel starvation issue, depending on the model there can be numerous pipes from the tank, if it has a fuel primer bulb there will be a pipe from the tank to the back of it, there will also be a pipe to act as a breather to stop a vacume building in the tank, and finally a pipe directly to the carb, if there is a leak from this pipe you will have problems, on the tank end there will be a filter on the end of this pipe, if it is blocked it will cause this type of problem

Idles wide open

Sounds like the inner cable is too short, what you can do is gently snip off a peice of the outer cable where it anchors, this will make the inner longer.

I have a Homelite UT

lI thinkthe oil to gas is too rich with Gasoline. My book says 40 to 1. Not enough oil will cause it to run hot and burn or stick. Also some of the later models take the synthetic oil andif you use the outboard or other oil it will run hot and ruin the saw.

HOW DO YOU ADJUST TENSION ON CHAIN FOR HOMELITE

Hi,

Turn the tightener till the chain in the center of the bar at the bottom just hangs down about a 1/8"....
this will be good... too tight and the chain will not turn...too loose and it will come off...
that 1/8" is usually great for any saw...

Need gas/oil mix for Homelite 330 10604A, HJ

To the best of my recollection the 330 is an older model saw and should be running about a 16:1 ratio. 8oz. of oil to 1 gallon of fuel. Hope this helps.

Note: You're always better being a bit richer (lower ratio) than you are leaner (higher ratio).

Chain brake not working right

strip cover and check that all the dirt etc is cleaned out and the brake band is in the correct position If the brake band looks worn ie thin in places replace with new one. Dirt can also get in the pivot of the chain brake handle and cause it to jam, saw should be stripped and cleaned at the end of every days use and the bar turned over to even out the wear

Saw will not idle down,

First thing to do is remove the top cover, now check that when you release the throttle trigger the spindle on the carb returns ahainst the idle screw stop, if not check the linkage is not sticking and holding it open, if ok make an adjustment to the idle screw, if this screws right out and the revs still do not decrease, then you have an air leak through a crank seal or gasket.

My saw idles way too fast - how do I adjust?

Threr will be three adjuster screws on the carb ( will be holes in the cover so as to acess without removing any covers ) they will be marked L H and I( for idle ) or T( for tickover ). The T or I screw will adjust the idle speed, unscrew anti clockwise to reduce the speed.

Need fuel mixture specs

50:1 is the fuel to oil ratio using a modern synthetic saw oil available at home centers, hardware stores, and saw dealers. Be sure to mix the fuel and oil in it's own container, and to shake the container thoroughly each time just before filling the tank to prevent oil starvation. Hope this helps!

I have a UT10519 and the chain keeps coming off

If the chain is showing signs of heavy wear, suggest replacing both the bar and the chain. Check the sprocket on the clutch hub for heavy wear on the teeth which will hasten wear on the chain teeth. Check chain oiling by running the saw tip near some cardboard at speed for a moment or two--it should throw off a thin line of oil. Tighten the chain until the lower run of chain just comes up to the bar, but not so tight that you can't turn the chain by hand. Hope this helps!
