Always on format error when
Hi,
Follow these troubleshooting steps to resolve this issue.
The NO DATA or FORMAT ERROR message may occur if the portable player has been formatted using the format utility in Windows Explorer. To correct this issue, initialize (format) the portable player using the Initialize or Format utility built into your Walkman player.
Reset the unit by pressing the RESET button with a small object such as a paper clip.
If the issue persists, I suggest that you un-install and reinstall the latest version of the Sonic Stage Software and transfer the songs again to resolve the issue. Click here to download the latest version of the SonicStage Software.
This should resolve the issue.

When i put songs on
Hello
Ok, the most common problem usually is that the songs you added is not in the correct format for the player to recognize. Hence, the player will show that thee is space used, but it will not show any files/songs.
Your device supports the following file formats.
ATRAC /
MP3. If the songs you put on the player is not in this format, it will not work. Hence, you will need to convert the files before transferring it to your player.
Hope this can be of help.
Kind regards
Andrea

Sony is providing a exchange offer with a similar model instead of getting repaired. If you are referring NWE405, its a old player and I would recommend to buy a refurbished Players from the link below as it is not worth getting the Player repaired.
