Blinking screen
ON THE 36 INCH SONY THE PROBLEM LIES ON THE PICTURE TUBE.THERE IS A LEAKAGE EITHER HEATER TO CATHODE OR G1 INSIDE THE CRT.THE ONLY WAY TO FIX IT IS REPLACE THE CRT OR HAVE THE CRT GUNS CLEANED THRU PICTURE TUBE TESTER/RESTORER/REJUVINATOR AVAILABLE ONLY FROM TV TECHNICIANS.GOOD LUCK.4TUNE.
Contrast
This is due to screen control faulty or crt weak. Change the screen control and its related coupling resisters.

Sony KV-35V45 CRT tube short, trying to figure out and clear it !!!
On the CRT itself, without the socket connected, you should have continuity (0 ohms) between G1, G1-2 and G1-3. Those 3 pins are Grid 1 and are tied together inside the neck. You should also have continuity (maybe 5 ohms or so) from H1 to H2. Those 2 are connected to the 3 heaters (in parallel). When the set is on there will be 6.3 volts of high-frequency AC power at those pins, and you should NEVER try to pump more voltage to the H pins. If you clear out the continuity between the 2 H pins then you blow open all 3 filaments and the set is garbage. There should NOT be continuity of any kind between G2 and any other pin. If there is then the tube is bad and cannot be fixed. There should also be no continuity at all between any other pins. The good news is that from the voltages you posted, you have a heater-to-cathode short that developes in the green gun when the tube is warm. To remove this short, take a 22uF 250V capacitor and put an alligator clip from the negative lead to ground. Connect the positive lead of the capacitor to the 200 volt boost source and turn the set on, which charges the capacitor. Tap lightly on the neck of the CTR and when the voltage drops on the KG pin, the screen will go quite green and that is when you should take the positive lead of the charged cap and touch it to the KG pin on the tube socket. This should remove the heater-to-cathode short. A 22uF cap has enough charge to clear the short but usually not enough to blow open the filament itself. Using a capacitor larger than 22uF runs the risk of blowing the filament open and you do not want that. It is tricky to get it right because you have to have a charged cap and the tube must short out and you have to get the charge from the cap into the tube before the set shuts itself down. Try that and post your results.
No video, no audio, only blinking red light on standby power
The STANDBY light is flashing on the television and there is no picture or sound.
Solution
The STANDBY light will flash if an issue is detected within the television. This can sometimes be resolved by simply following the steps below to reset the television.
- Turn off the television.
IMPORTANT: For a projection television that uses an internal lamp, wait 5 minutes after turning off the television to allow the lamp to cool before continuing with the following steps.
- Unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.
- Let the television remain without power for 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet.
NOTE: If the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the television.
-
Turn on the television.
If the issue is still unresolved after following all of the troubleshooting steps,
service may be required. Please note the number of times the STANDBY light flashes and relay that information to the service center.

Sony CRT Tv (KV-T29SZ8)
When you see white lines at the top of the screen, it means that the pump-up capacitor next to the vertical output IC is bad and the IC is about to quit. When the output finally quits, you get a black screen with possible dim spots. The vertical output IC and its pump-up cap will have to be replaced, and the little fuse resistors next to the flyback in the + and - supplies to the vertical output IC must be checked too. If you have experience working on TV's then you can do it yourself, but if not then have the set serviced by a tech experienced in Sony sets.
TV won't power up after surge
Try this: unplug the set and wait about 10 or 20 minutes. This is to make sure that the main power supply filter caps completely discharge. Look on the power supply board, close to where the AC cord attaches to the board. Look for a white resistor labeled "0.1 OHM" (the symbol for OHM, like an upside-down U) and measure it with your ohm meter. If it is open then your switching transistors in the main power supply are most certainly shorted. Older sets had 2 separate transistors on little heat sinks labeled "C4834", then they switched to 2 transistors in one package labeled "MX0841" or "MX0842", and then some sets went to two separate MOSFET transistors. Measure those parts and post your results and we will guide you from there.
No sound
Your statement is not clear. Sound was working in stereo or mono mode. Whatever it is you said i hit button on the remote means which button. Suppose you got the solutions in multiple order combinations means there is dry contact in the mother board. If it is not there check the menu options whether the sound system is set in your type of reception if it is BG or I or DK.
CRT KR & KG Sort
If these guns have cathode-filaiment shorts you might be able to get an isolation transformer made especially for this problem.
Otherwise you need to replace the picture tube.

Tv won't power up
your regulator might be blown, & the red led is an indication your standby supply is still up. I can't recall the part #, its MX ### something, but there will most likely be a .22 ohm resistor feeding it, it'll be blown to
Sony KV-35S42 35" TV
Check first for bad solder on the vertical IC, Im not sure for your set as I do not have the service manual, but it may be location IC301. If after resoldering it does not fix it you may have to replace it and you should replace the electrolytic capacitors in the vertical section.
Hope this helps.

Tv Won't come on
I suspect a power board failure but to be sure i would have to know how many times your light is blinking as there is a code to it. please repost with number of blinks. This is a common problem with this brand of sony televisions as far as I can tell from what i have been reading online. If you are still under warranty you should contact Sony. If you need further help from an expert please let us know the number of blinks.
T.V. Flashing
You may have a bad connection inside the picture tube or a bad solder joint on the picture tube driver board which plugs onto the
neck of the picture tube.
Stargazer
Picture problem
Usually that symptom is caused by cracked solder joints on the vertical output IC. As the IC starts heating up, the picture starts breaking up at the top with several "dancing" dark lines appearing, the top scrunches down and then when the vertical quits altogether, the screen goes completely black. A good slap on the side of the TV might make it happen faster or clear it up temporarily. If you have experience working on PC boards then you can resolder the pins of the vertical output IC but if you have never soldered parts on PC boards then allow a qualified tech to handle it for you.
Picture on screen wont stay on
could be noumerous things:
1. check power supply, too high or too low voultage may cause TV to shut down. measure it to detarmine if power supply is faulty.
2. check convergence board. If either of these 2 fuses on the convergence panel are open then replace the STK output devices PLUS check for any resistors in that circuit that may have overheated and changed value. Use actual fuse values, putting in a
larger fuse, even to try and diagnose problem, will cause more severe damage.
3. Check for bad solder connects on the PC board in the area of the power cord and related components.
