If so its the board that controls convergence. ( sustain 2) But the problem may have originated ELSEWHERE. so it's not just that 1 board that is at fault

However the recommendation is to change all 3 boards at the same time to avoid domino effect. Old board kills off new board!
Ther are other considerations too that need to be taken into account.. There has to be voltage check and matches between boards and Tuning of convergence chips by generating a hatch pattern. Unless you have the skills and understanding of circuit diagrams the right tools and have now had all your children ( Xray radiation +++ behind all large TV's) then I suggest calling in a professional. This is not really a DIY. Many on here think they can save a $ by DIY but 99% are back within aqweek or so with either failure orsame and even multiple other problems and still no picture.


Parts cost about $300 labour is unknown factor as I am not in USA. But generally its in vicinity of 5-700 total from what I hear on this forum.Always get a few quotes

Hi, Although it is a rear projection TV it will work with HD content. You will still need a set top box to decode HD programs. This is an old TV with tubes inside and a CRT screen. They will fail and it's getting harder to get parts for. My advice go get a flat pannel TV. Good luck

To reset it, you must have its remote control.

The most you will probably get out of this TV is probably 720P HD. Most new flat screen TV's have 1080P If you want to upgrade make sure you get 1080P because some flat screens nowadays are made with only 720P still. If you upgrade don't throw away the TV. Sell it, give it away, or take it to your local 2nd hand store or salvation army to help the community and the people who might need a TV. I hope you make the right decision.By the way. If you upgrade and you have say Comcast, Dish, etc. You still need to get an HD box from them. No way around that if you want HD. Make sure the box they give you has HDMI capability or you won't be getting the full potential of the TV.

Hi three months ago my kp-61hs30 tv looks like 3d picture and technician man replaced the two convergence Ic's but last night my tv looks like 3d picture and it look like is the picture goes down

This set has pico fuses on convergence board and also on G power board, there should be 2 5 amp pico fuses on power board.If convergence is bad exactly as before double check the power board fuses and check to see if voltage (it is marked!) is there with power board disconnected from chassis..Steve

This most likely is convergence problem, see attached photo, do not pay for this help.

Set uses two convergence chips, they will need be replaced, less than 15 dollars for a pair.

Hi,

The Standby/Power light of the TV blinks when there is any internal malfunction in the TV.
The self-diagnostic function of the projection TV will cause the STANDBY light to blink or flash when the television detects an issue. The number of times the STANDBY light flashes corresponds to a specific issue. As per the two examples below, some of the issues may be resolved without the need for service.
If the STANDBY light flashes three times in sequence, the lamp cover is not securely attached. Reattach the lamp cover to resolve this issue.
If the STANDBY light flashes four times in sequence, the TV may be overheating. To resolve this issue, ensure that the back of the TV is well ventilated.

If the flash sequence is not listed above or the light continues to flash, follow the steps below to perform a power reset:
Try the following steps to check if the issue can be resolved.
Turn off the television.
Unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.
Let the television remain without power for 60 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet.

If the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the television.

If the issue continues to occur, service may be required.

Sony part number 1-453-285-21. It's not difficult to find these online. I suggest getting an original Sony part. Many of the cheap aftermarket replacements I've tried in Sony sets don't seem to work well. You'll pay a little more but the part will work. I just found this listing on eBay for one, and it's a good price.

This may be a problem with one or two MCZ chips....not sure if this model has them or not. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com just in case.

I have a 2002 sony KP61HS30 and the blue and red do not match up. I use the flash focus button and it does not align the red and blue plus sign. Have any suggestions?
