Those blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. http://homenol.blogspot.com/ http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty. Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device, [Exclude the model number] in the "Search box at the top right of the display window of the Homepage" to get gathered related posts. Check and replace damaged component/s at its horizontal scan output section circuit. Check the LOT (Line Output Transformer) too for damage. Replace the horizontal scan output transistor. Check the input voltage to LOT. If the voltage is absent check the feeder resistor; if any. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked above. Pull up older posts. Type in this key phrase " my service table today " in the search box at the top right of the the home page, to get gathered some pages which has the details of practical experiences of the author of that site. The search result might display about 20 Nos of related posts. Press the "All posts" at the bottom of the list, then you can select them one by one.

Set won't turn .. timer

My name is Todd and I will try to help you with this solution.

The most common cause of 7 blinks for the KV32XBR400 is failure of IC8002 (MCZ3001D) on the D board. IC6501 (MCZ3001D), also on the D board, may also be bad. We have repaired numerous units (not just your model) by replacing these chips.
If you need more information, let me know and I will help you the best I can. You will need to order the chips. You could also just order and replace the whole board, but you will be looking at about $500.00 to replace.

I have a sony

The description that you give indicates a video problem, it is a situation where the picture tube is over driven and makes the picture bloom and produces white lines on a angle, this is caused by an open resistor or a shorted video driver usually located on the back of the picture tube, "video board"

Sony 32" xbr trinitron trusurround T V picture is black

Most likely on a trinitron tube if it is dark is the high voltage capacitor has blown. This is the device that feed the 30,000 or so volts to charge the tube, it attaches at the back with a clip and ****** and a single cable coming from it.

You can check easily if it is definately that as you will notice if you power the tv on and off once or twice if you get that static charge feel from the screen, if there is none there then almost certainly that is the problem.

SONY KV32XBR400 (year 2000) screen is blank when power turned on

The clicking you are hearing was probably always there, it's just that when something goes awry, one pays closer attention. What you hear is probably a relay that connects power to the rest of the set. Since our sets can respond to a remote, they always have a little bit of life to supply power to the infra-red receiver so it can respond when 'off.'
I see two possibilities; the relay itself has burned contacts and not always 'closing' as it should, or, the high voltage circuit is failing to turn on as it should causing an excessive current to flow for a moment and a protective circuit to trip and disconnect the power from the main supply.
It probably will get worse if the problem is not found and could damage other circuitry as well.
Good luck finding a TV repair man who isn't deceased or out of business but I do recommend you try to have it repaired. Once repaired, it will outlast most any panel/flat screen-type TV as it appears nearly all of them are failing much too early in life.
You can check by entering just "LCD," "plasma" or "projection" plus TV in the search window here.

KV-32xbr400 switch problem

Many of the later model Sony TV’s have a built in self-diagnosis function. If the timer/standby indicator is blinking, this could be an indication of a problem with the unit. The diagnostic blinking will occur automatically with no action required by you to engage it. in yor case you have 5 blinks that´s why the last is short to be possible the count..Five blinks - AKB circuit (automatic kine bias), the timer/standby indicator blinks for about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function. Something is wrong with the video. Check video out, Q705, 732, 761 and other components on the C board, also check Q218, 219, 220 on the A board. In addition, unit could be in IK blanking, try turning up screen slightly.

Red light blinking 7 times on Sony Triniton Wega TV

This means one of three things, either the lamp is bad on your tv, the ballast that powers the lamp is bad or the safety switch for the lamp door is not depressed or it has come un-plugged. It could also mean the power supply or fuse on the power board is blown. I am assuming this is a DLP tv, and if so, it is fairly easy to fix it or find parts for it online. If you are slightly mechanically inclined, want to save money and dont mind paying attention to detail then you can fix it yourself. If you need help dont hesitate to ask.
