When I press button to turn on my Sony 32 Sony Triniton TV, I hear clicking noise as if TV trying to come on, but it does not come on. The red light for Standby keeps flashing, but, TV does not come

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ Blinking codes details to many popular brand TVs are given. Surf the site with patience. If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty. Check and replace damaged component/s at its horizontal scan output section circuit. Check the LOT (Line Output Transformer) too for damage. Replace the horizontal scan output transistor. Check the input voltage to LOT. If the voltage is absent check the feeder resistor; if any. 25399656-gawl0lw4t2dj02sphlcmcar2-3-0.gif

My SONY Wega model KV-32HS500

This is a fault solution which can be checked and corrected by you assuming that there is no component failure. There is a high possibility that the components over a period of heating and cooling, tend to bring on a problem of dry soldering. So my advice is to check the set for some loose joints that have played on to give you these erratic shut downs or poor performance.

The best way to check for loose connections is to tap lightly when the set is powered on , If there is change while tapping then it seems that there are DRY solder joints. Remove main plug, the covers - with caution of high voltage, check for dry joints, use a good soldering iron to solder all suspected points.

Sometimes the fault occurs when the set warms up, if so you can simulate the heat using a hair dryer on the suspected areas, try with the power supply, distribution, Processor controller, driver controllers on the A/V related sections. Also the use a FREEZE-IT spray can simulate the components to cool and show up the fault.

Based on the above method you must be able to locate the area of fault and solder the sections. Sometimes large IC's- ones with more pins- tend to have drying in some pins and so cause faults related to the IC's protocol. Have a rough idea of looking into the areas to reduce the time of probing.

Check for tips to look into the SMPS unit with some of my tips:

Im having a problem with

hi,
Blinking led in sony tv is its self dioganising function. 7 blinks by it means the horizontal output voltage increased above 33k.
You have to check the power supply stage of you tv. Normally in sony tv dry soldering can happend in the power supply stage. It will lead to unregulated voltage output from the power supply. Resolder all the points in the power supply section it will solve your problem.
ok

Standby light blinks 6X with

Hi,

The Standby/Power light of the TV blinks when there is any internal malfunction in the TV. The self-diagnostic function of the TV will cause the STANDBY light to blink or flash when the television detects an issue. The number of times the STANDBY light flashes corresponds to a specific issue.

Few examples are given below; some of the issues may be resolved without the need for service. 1 blink / 2 blinks / 5 blinks: - This indicates that there may be a power-related problem with your set. 3 blinks: - This indicates that there may be a power-related problem with your set. The set will need to be serviced to allow a technician to determine the specific issue that needs to be repaired. If the power light flashes three times in sequence in a Lamp TV, the lamp cover is not securely attached. Reattach the lamp cover to resolve this issue. 4 blinks: - This indicates that there may be a back light or lamp power problem. 6 blinks: - This indicates that there is some kind of audio problem with your set. 7 blinks: - This indicates that there is a temperature problem with your set. Please check to make sure that the air vents on the sides and back of the set are not blocked or clogged and there is adequate ventilation around the television. We recommend that you check and clean the vents periodically to make sure the set receives adequate air flow. If the problem continues, the set will need to be serviced. 8 blinks: - This indicates that there may be a video-related problem with your set. If the flash sequence is not listed above or the light continues to flash, follow the steps below to perform a power reset: Try the following steps to check if the issue can be resolved. Turn off the television. Unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet. Let the television remain without power for 60 seconds. Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet.

If the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the television.

If the issue continues to occur, service may be required.

Thanks for using Fixya.

Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-32HS500 --had the 7

On some models 3 blinks pertain to a lamp cover error, lamp cover is not attached securely or lamp is not set securely causing no picture or sound. There are switches or sensors that interlock and send signals to the board telling it is set securely.

Aprrox 1994 or 95 Trinitron.

Sounds either like you have cold solder joints on the power supply board that after the set has been on for some time these connections heat up and lose contact...or it may be the power supply itself is heating up and going bad..causing the set to shut down. If you can solder...open the unit up and look at the bottom of the board...the solder connections should be clean and shiny..if they look like they have cracks around the pins of the components then they will need to be resoldered to resore the proper functioning of the set...if soldering doesn't help, then you will need to have it serviced at a shop

Tv makes a noise when

Hello

Your TVs anode cap is arcing. The sound you hear will be like "Ishhh", and a fouling smell of Ozone also be there from the top back side of your TV.. It will stop after some time, say after 10 or 15 minutes; and picutre will be oke thereafter. You must get it repaired without any delay, otherwise the final anode will get rusted, and will turn the picture tube irreparable.

The final anode of the picture tube is clipped into and is protected by a rubber ******, called anode cap. When the the humidity in atomosphere increses, the arcing also will incresae, and will take much time to get picture to come clear. Anode cap is a replaceable part, even though it is integreated with Line Output Transformer. Proper care must be taken when replacing it, and must be done by a well experienced technician. Do it atonce as fast as you can, otherwise thigs will go worse. The anode voltage of a 32" tv comes upe to 28,000VDC [28KVDC], so it is dangerous to handle by yoursef, if you are not experienced. The charge at that point will hold over for hours, even after the set is switched off. Anode must be well discharged before handling the anode cap. A well experienced on only can do this. Do it without any delay I advice you. OK.
