Check the cables going in and out of the tcon board if that doesn't fix it replace that board

HiBlinking light is a sign of some short circuit overloading the power supply. This fault should be traced mainly in the supply line for short. This task require to be serviced by a keen electronics hobbist or a tecnician.Sully

HiI think your problem is in the tuner, a metal box located near the antenna input. This tuner can be removed and serviced. Sometimes the tuner DC supply line is unstable due to a filter capacitor or zener diode generally rated 33V (most common) and should be the first step in troubleshooting process.SullySully

There is some short circuit with the main board of this TV. Contact any experienced service technician to get it repaired. It is a skilled work, that a user can't do.

Five blinks - AKB circuit (automatic kine bias), the timer/standby indicator blinks for about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function. Something is wrong with the video. Check video out, Q705, 732, 761 and other components on the C board, also check Q218, 219, 220 on the A board. In addition, unit could be in IK blanking, try turning up screen slightly.

There is problem with the back light of your tv. In LCD tvs CCFL are used as back light to give light to independant pixels.There will be 12 over more CCFL labs behind the lcd screen to provide the brightness. CCLF lamps required high voltage to light. This high voltage is provided by the inverter board inside the tv. If any one of the chopper transformer (high voltage transformer) have some problem then the inverter will shuts off itself preventing damges to the power supply.

You have to check the 24V from the power supply. If its ok the you have to check the inverter board.if avilabe replace the same. if you are not able to do the same i will prefer to consult some one experienced in it. Back light inverter board will look like one in the picture.

the main strike relay is turning on the power board but the tube relay is detecting a fault when it trys to ingage the unit needs to be fixed by a lic pro there is no easy fix to this fault

Your KV36XBR450 is HD ready which means that you will need a set top box to receive the HD signal. Comcast will provide this for you naturally at an additional expense. Your other option would be to purchase a set top box and use and OTA (over the air) antenna which will allow you to receive your local broadcasts in HD.

I am sorry, however i have no heard about upgrade for this set. There is nothing available even with Sony.

This may be due to a faulty A Board, one way to verify is to disconnect the keypad from the main board and check if this is still happening, if so then the A-board is the problem, this is the board with the microprocessor is on, The micro processor may be faulty. you can try resetting the unit back to factory default by starting with the tv power off then hit the DISPLAY button on the remote then Number 5 , then Volume down then power button, you have to do this all within 5 seconds or it will not work. Once you are in the service hit the number 8 key to reset, TV will shut down and come back on by itself and be on channel 3. Any setting you may have set will be erased and the unit will be back to factory as when you brought it,. IF this does not help then consider replacing the A board. It my not be avaiable any more in which case time for a new TV..

Your TV is now in dead condition I should say. You should strart from its power supply regulation section itsef to rectify the fault. Look into the fuse, a glass fuse is there, in power supply board. If It has found blown, make sure that there is something short in either power supply regulator side, of on the other part of the printed circuit board.
You just place a fuse of same rating as used, if the fuse is blown. If the fule you installed newly also blows off, check first the retifier stalk for any leak. The stalk contains four diodes, even any one of them gets shorte, fule will blow up. If there is no leak in the retifier stalk, measure the voltage resistance across the main filter capacitor, a bulky one capacitor fitted in the power regulator section. If you see a full deflection on meter, it means that there is some dead short inside the power regualtor system.
Usually Sony uses STR regulated type power supplies, and some uses MOSFET [Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistors], as switching elements. Bothe of these types can be shorted, due to a high voltage spikes, or a sudden supply failure and restart.
Check out short test on these components, out of board, that is, desolder it out from the circuit board. You just resolder one by one and measure the resistance ad described above. Thus you can find out the exact component, that have a short. If any of these components shorted, check the entire power regulator section for any more component failure, like zener diode short, resistors opened, and so on. You should have a concept of soldering and a little knoledge in electronics. There will be a MOV [Metal Oxide Varistor] fitted across the power supply input, which look like a disc capacitor. it will get shorted when a certain voltage spike occures abvve its rated voltage, and apply a dead short at the supply stage. If any of them used, desolder it out and check for any leak, and is found leaky, replace it. It is used as a saftey measure, and without it the set will work fine.

Whenever a PSU shuts Off automatically, well this is due to the "Protection Circuitry" detecting a Fault, that is potentially so severe that, the set needs to be shut down, then, immediately, to avoid a fire, and explosion or both. (Often it is caused by the component overheating, and going short circuit.)
Now it is THIS "Cause" that must be found, and repaired, also any damage done by that "Cause" too.
Now irrespective of whatever the Symptom is , one MUST always start at the Power Supply, and make sure this is 100% correct, as if this isn't NOTHING else can ever be. then once one is sure that it is OK, then work out from there to try and find the actual "Fault".
As an aside here the reason that the Red is more redder may indeed be because the Power supply is providing too much voltage/current and it is being overdriven, this and the shutting down are no doubt related.
Again use the service manuals to troubleshoot and replace the board that seems faulty.
All repair data is in the manual as are the parts numbers too, more importantly.
It is my professional opinion though, with a set like this, rear projection, that it should be attended to by a Sony professional, i would advice you to first ask for a "Quote" before allowing any repairs to proceed, this way you can then decide as to repair or replace. I say this as many times with these sets, the costs can ramp up, very quickly, and make any repairs un-ecconomic. in these cases, it is better to put the monies that would have been spent on repair towards a new set, with a full warranty.

is hv circuit problem a power transistor to 25KV transformer maybe dead, check the HV Circuit, or 1XXV output from Mains transformer the fuse maybe dead

it is most likely the remote receiver inside the tv. you can verify this by using a universal remote. if you cant get it to work the receiver is bad.
