Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-36XBR800 36" TV - Page 5 Questions & Answers
Channels 2-6 picture is bad, but all others are OK
If this TV is connected to cable TV and you are using a cable box then the cable system is at fault. If you are connected to cable TV with no cable box then look at the pictures on other TV's in your home if you have another TV. If they look fine and are small enough to move around. Move the TV and connect it to the cable outlet where this TV is connected and then examine those channels again. If they are grainy then a call to the cable company is due. They can use a signal checker to see what the signal levels are at that outlet for any given channel range.

Standby blight bliks for seven time tv wont turn
Hi,
Seven blink indicates that there is a high voltage shutdown. The high voltage has exceeded 33k and the unit goes immediately into safety shutdown. Check power supply regulation and horizontal circuits.
Hopw this helps .

Light blinks 7 times when i try to turn it on.
Are you sure it isn't eight......try turning on this method....display, 5, vol+, power on. Should bring it on in the diagnostic mode. Mine and about kazillion other owners have the same problem, bad M board and they never issued a recall on it. Costs 2-300 to have someone repair it, cause its' too heavy to carry it in, I think they used cement in the bottom for weight.

My tv smells like it's burning
Remove the back cover and look for discolored components(most likely coil or transfo),also unplug teh set after it has warmed up and touch components lightly to feel for overheating.i had burned coil in a similar set, around the pincushion circuit.
good luck

Tv wont fire up stand by light just blinks
Try this to see if you can get it to come on in the diagnostic mode. Display, 5, vol+, power on........need to do it in rapid order and sometimes you have to try turning it on with the power on then display, 5, vol+ then power on. Use the remote for this method. Will bring on the diagnostic mode and you will have green numbers on the screen and like we did, we got used to it......

A frinds's grandson turned on the delay timer on
Its not a problem ith any timer . That tv has no lock able to keep it from turning on. The tv is broken and the stby light is blinking a pattern indicating an error code. Probably six or seven blinks in a row maybe four. My guess is that it needs two regulator OSC I.C.s and a capacitor replaced. I think you should take it to a sony authorized servicer. Its a good model , worth repairing for no more than $250.00 or a little more if they'll pick it up and deliver it.

My trinitron kv-35s65 just popped and went black, standby/timer
That pop is probably your H.O.T. has shorted. You will need to replace that and two regulators and maybe the flyback. You also have bad electrolytic caps and high voltage retrace [timing] caps that are bad. It will cost you to repair this of course...and chances are it will not last long after that. Consider a new TV.

I have a sony wegs lcd tv with a seperate monitor and media centr
The STANDBY light will flash if the television detects an issue within the
television. Some of these issues can be resolved simply by following the steps
below to reset the television.
If the issue is still unresolved after following all of
the troubleshooting steps, service may be required. Please note the number of times the
STANDBY light flashes and relay that information to the service center.
- Turn off the television.
Unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.
- Let the television remain without power for 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet.
NOTE: If the television is
plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or
surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is
resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the
television.
- Turn on the television.

I have the Sony KV-36XBR400. The picture freezes
Hi.. Sorry to hear that the Picture is freezing..
Here are some of the steps that you can try:
*Try to connect a different video source with the TV like DVD Player, Blu-ray player and check.
*If the issue persists, disconnect the power cord and reconnect to a different wall outlet without the Power surge protector.
* If the issue persists, you need to contact the nearest service center to fix this.
Yes, you were correct many LCD TVs have problems compared to this TV.

What lamp do I need?
The Sony KV36XBR800 is a direct view Tv not a DLP and doesn't have a lamp. The common problem with those units, for what you've described is Ic8002 Sony p/n# 8-759-670-30 is a Mcz3001d Ic located on the D board. I did two of these in the same week about three weeks ago. The suffix (d) isn't important either a MCZ3001 or MCZ3001DB will wrok just fine. What I do is install a footing first and simply plug the new Ic in rather than subject it to all the heat. Also check R8051 (fusible) for open.
Good Luck!
