Sony KV-36XBR250 TV Questions & Answers
Red stand by light blinking continuously black screen
It cannot be reset fully unless it comes on and stays on (the model you have listed here.)That set should have a blink error code--watch the red power light to see if blinking in a number sequence like 7blinks pause and repeats over and over.
Hi we've got a wharfedale
If you were to shine a bright light at the screen and can see a "picture" in the background, it will probably need a new ballast unit for the backlight. If not I would look for a replacement TV.
Sony KV-36XBR250 - no picture, good sound
This is a common failure mode (which I now share), and has nothing to do with the picture tube or surge protection. From the forums I have searched to-date, it appears to be a failed component in the flyback circuitry, but Sony will not admit to an inherent defect.
If anyone has ACTUALLY FIXED this problem, please post a reply. Guessing won't help anyone.
Thanks.
Sound fine, but absolutely no picture?
it seems that your tv has a problem in horizontal circuit (with sound but no pictures). since you moved your tv from one place to another, the tv might have shaken causing to loose some soldered components particularly in horizontal circuit. if u have exprience in this stuffs, try to resolder the circuit, if not, bring it to a service technician.
No picture or sound when powered up. Red Standby
Did you get your set fixed or did you replace it? My same set did the same thing. Turned it off for 2-3hrs after watching it and when I tried to power it up- nothing but the sound it would normally make just before the major power up, sort of a relay click sound. No picture or sound but the red light blinks non-stop.
I just got the Sony KV-36XBR250 from a friend of
double check your cable routing. The cable that goes into the tv from a satellite box should be "out to tv" or something like that. If you have an old vcr laying around you can test that on channel 3 to the tv. Just in case something broke in the tuner circuit. Hope that helps.
I have same problem at first just had sound but no
Check and see if you have the sound settings to Stereo, and Audio to Main, not SAP.
Try the TV with a DVD player, does that work?
Are you using a cable TV box? Try the TV connected directly to cablevision. If that works, get a new cable box.
The TV may need a repair technician if the above tests don't work. Audio is generally not user serviceable without a lot of electronics skill, due to parts size and circuit complexity.

These sets have a weakness when moved.
You will need to check the area around the flyback transformer. (A large black transformer with a red wire out of the top). Look under the circuit board and near where the cabinet front and back meet. You will most likely find a crack in the circuit board, but never fear, the traces are very large in this area and can be repaired. After you gently remove the coating and expose the copper trace, you can solder a small wire were the crack is and you should be good to go.
I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue.
If you need further assistance please comment to this post and I will try to help you further.

Broadcast give sound but picture only in pip.
Hi and welcome to FixYa,
Offhand, have you tried connecting the coxail cable to the other connector VHF/UHF? To my understanding, the Sony KV-36XBR250 has 2 of these AUX (ANT) and VHF/UHF.
Other than the above, the original remote is required not only to reset but likewise to set which picture (main or PIP) the sound would be coming from. The headphones and PIP buttons are only available on the remote and not on the front panel MENU control.
Should you be interested, a replacement Sony RM-Y170 remote control for the KV-36XBR250 is available
here.
Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.
No picture but only sound

check also safty resistances in surrounding area of H OUT Transistor.
And if you are not a tech person then i advise you to please contact any expert nearby, this problem bit technical.
Hope this will solve the problem.

Hi,
In this situation various faults could be arise, like oscillation is not being made, horizental out put could be open or short, filament voltages are improper, could be a cold soldering fault, Therefore i must advise you to consult any expert nearby.
Hope you will understand my sayings.

What is 4 digit device code for sony kv36br250?
I guess we can assume that you are looking for the code to enter into some unidentified remote?
If it is a 'universal' remote, it may not contain a code for your model at all.
I suggest you check on the website belonging to the manufacturer of the remote.
