White lines on the screen.sounds ok.picture is
Lines means Screen Drive is overdriving, try adjusting the Screen control on the FBT flyback Transfomer, adjust it down. If that does not Clear out Problem then replace the CRT Board that is connected to Picture Tube.

I have Sony 40inch breviary.
Hello
Blinking of standby light in Sony telivisions are fault indications. You just count the number of blinks occur at a time when the set is switched On with its FRONT PANEL POWER SWITCH. Count it three or more times, and make sure about its number of blinks and inform me through Fixya. From that number, I can get into the fault section, sometimes more accurate to the location of the fault. Count it Keenly for at least three times and make sure before reporting. OK.

Sony trinitron KV-27FS100 like blinks 4 times then
There is something wrong with your set's vertical deflection. To prevent picture tube damage, the set blanks out the screen and flashes that 4-blink code. This is usually because the vertical output IC has failed or there is some other defect in the vertical output circuit, or a problem in the power supply so the vertical output isn't receiving proper voltage.
The vertical output is IC451 on the "A" board (the largest one holding most of the parts). You can try checking the solder connections to its pins, which is a common problem in all brands. Or you can try replacing the IC. But beyond that there's not much you'll be able to do without a voltmeter and the circuit diagram.
I would recommend having a professional check the TV if you want to keep it. TV service requires some special tools and experience to locate the bad parts, and there's the possibility of personal injury or causing more damage to the TV if you don't know what you're doing. Or use this as an excuse to buy a new TV. Small LCD sets are quite inexpensive now, and a new TV may be not very much more than the cost of repairing your TV.
Good luck, and thanks for using Fixya!

I push the power button and it clicks like it
Hello
Your TVs power ON/OFF switch has got some trouble I thinks. it may be dure to its locking mechanism, inide it which keeps it locked for one press and the relese it back for an other press. If so it should be replaced, and no repair work can be done with it. As far as Sony sets are concerned, this switch will be of special type, and have different diamenstion to that of otheres. You shoud resolder it out from the circuit board and go for a new one with that as sample. Replacing it will solve your problem. OK.

How to get the writtind off my screen. it will
If your Sony has built in Freeview, go to the menu and find "Subtitles" turn them off. Or if you are using and external freeview box, do the same in the boxes menu.
That will fix it.

My stand by button blinks
Sounds like it is flashing probably 5 times?
The green tinge is the tube wearing. A new tube will fix it.

Sony trinitron turns off and blinks 5 times
Hello
There is some fault in the [AKB] circuit section inside the circut board of your TV. To rectify it, you have to open your TV, and check the video output section. It can be located at the picture tube base card
AKB circuit (automatic kine bias), the timer/standby indicator blinks for about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function. Something is wrong with the video. Check video out, Q705, 732, 761 and other components on the C board, also check Q218, 219, 220 on the A board. In addition, unit could be in IK blanking, try turning up screen slightly.
Turn it slightly counterclockwise, not too much, just one point.

If you state that the contacts of the Mains Plug were 'burnt', I suggest that you once clean them with Emery Paper and try again. Loose contact in the Mains causes the 'burning', and the Plug contacts become carbonised.
Could be other reasons also, but just try this first.

Won't come on but the
The lights blink on start up and if all is well the set works.
Remember when all was well and how it started?
If it does not come on then the number of blinks is a suggestion to the failed section of the set and it needs repair.
Your owners manual or local repair shop will know but a 10 year old set might be considered a full life.
