I have a Trinitron Wega 32HS510 that sometimes will not turn on. It sounds like it is going to turn on but shuts down immediately. The red light fast blinks either 6 or 7 times over and over again

The main power supply regulator section circuit fault. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size. Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device; in the "Search box at the top right of the display window of the Homepage" to get gathered related posts.

What is the life span for the Sony Wega KV-32HS510?

10,000 continous woking hours is calculated to most of the CRT based TVs. It is only calculation, but the life span might be much more that that. I've repaired a Sony TV recently, which was released by Sony Corporation Japan. The model is KV1820, an 18" Trinitron TV, still works perfectly. Just see, it is an '80 model one. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. 7 blinks

Hi,

7 blinks is an error code for "Horizontal deflection malfunction". This circuitry is the one generating high voltage for the picture tube and other voltages through the flyback transformer. Sad to say that this is not a DIY because safety precaution is a must working on this section to avoid further damaged and electric shock.

The flyback transformer, horizontal output transistor, fusible resistor, jungle IC must be check by a qualified TV technician to isolate where the fault came from.

I would advice you to ask for an actual estimate from your local service center for the service fee plus parts let say flyback transformer to determine how much money you are going to spend sending the unit in.

Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!

Have a sony kv-32hs510 and about a week or 2 ago

hi,
In sony television there is some self-diagnosis functions. That is indicated by blinking of led. in your TV there is six blinks that means it have some problem in the horizontal section. From your narration it might be because of some dry soldering in the horizontal side that's why it works perfectly intermittently. First of all check for dry soldering in horizintal section near LOT( line output transformer) . surly its a dry soldering. Only thing is while doing the soldering be very careful. there is possibility of two adjacent pins get shorted. After soldering carefully watch for any shot circuit only after that switch on the tv. I have the service manual for the same if you need it for reference will sent the same to you. Only thing is need you email id for the same Because its a pdf file and have a size more than 150kb. Through fixya i can sent only files bellow 150kb. if you need any further assistance feel free to contact me through fixya

KV32HS510 Standby light blinks 7 times. If I

Hi,
7 blinks is an error code for "Horizontal Deflection failure". Once the unit gone to this fault, it will automatically shuts down the unit. This kind of symptoms is not DIY if your not handy with electronics because you will work in the high voltage circuitry section where the flyback transformer located.
Faulty electrolytic capacitor in this section will produced an out-of-regulation condition and will vary the high voltage output of the flyback transformer and will trigger the X-ray protection circuit. Sometimes it will work normal but there's a time it can no longer stable itself and will gone bad. Bad solder joints (cracked, dried, cold solder) will do the same symptoms and this section is prone for that because of heat build-up upon operation.
If you don't have necessary tools and test instrument and can't troubleshoot the unit yourself, I would advice you to look for a qualified tv technician to isolate the symptoms.
Also, check if your unit is still under warranty/extended warranty period, avail it because the manufacturer will fix it for free. Don't attempt to open the back cover because it will void the warranty.
Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya.

My sony also blinks 6

First be sure to unplug your unit then remove the back cover of your tv. then if you follow the ac cord of your tv it will direct you to the main power supply try to pull out the main board, for you to see the solder part of the tv, but if their is a connector to be unplug be sure to remember the proper location or try to label the connectors it would be match better if you use magnifying glass to see clearly the loosed solder because sometimes it i s hard to recognize the loosed solder. And don,t forget to check the horizontal output it has 3 pin and located near the flyback transformer the center pin is connected to the flyback. good day and be careful some of the parts has a electric charge even you unplug the unit.

STANDY BY LIGHT FLASHING WHEN

Hello,

first, make sure the TV is correctly plugged into the wall. You can try another outlet. If that doesn't work, then your TV is certainly having a power problem.

The issue you describe is consistent with a power supply board issue. This is the board where the AC goes to. This problem may have occurred as a result of irregular power supply, or excess power supply or power surge.

The TV is receiving current but cannot circulate or transfer the current to other necessary part of the TV because of the defective power supply board. You might be lucky it's just a blow fuse. Also a defective transformer can cause your TV not to power on......

All these can be checked on the power supply board.......

But more often bad capacitors causes problem on the power supply board. I do not think the power board needs replacement, rather those defective capacitors is causing this issue. Open unit up and take a look at the power supply board. You will probably see one or more electrolytic filter capacitors that are bulged up in the top-not perfectly flat like the others.

The value of these capacitors will be different, most likely they will be somewhere around-820 to 2200uF/25 V( or /10V sometimes).

You can replace them with same values but I would recommend the voltage rating to be higher(like 35V for an original 25V) for reliability purposes.

What happens is,these bulged top capacitors will cause a low and unfiltered DC voltage=main board will malfunction(the relay will keep clicking until the caps are holding enough charge to bring the voltage up over a threshold point).

You can buy these capacitors at any Fry's or Radioshack store or you can order them online at vendors like "mcmelectronics.com"(look for electrolytic capacitors). After replacing these capacitor(capacitors) most likely the normal operation will be restored. Or you can by a refurbished complete power board to save you some stress.......

Note: There may be also some other causes for this symptom ,like a defective T con board ,or main board, but the bulged top capacitors are the most common cause for this issue.
If you don't know about TV repairers, take the TV to the nearest repairman to fix the fault for you. Also, note that TV stores a lot of current, so wait a while before opening the TV back cover.

Yours sincerely.

Elect_Comp.
