Before we start taking things apart, lets try your simple remove power plug routine and power system back up. Also, please try your unit on a few different channels to see if your problem continues on each channel. Your Main Board, Power Board, T-Control Board are suspected problems at this time. Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds, the unit should power down by itself after you have powered it on. If it does not, then do not be concerned. Let me know if the problem continues. The first link below will bring you directly to the troubleshooting guide if you need to continue forward with the same error. Lets start with your AC Wall outlet. It is standard in america that 220 Volts from out of these outlets. This implies that each device will be using 220 Volts (From within that grid zone). If anything including an alarm clock is plugged into any AC outlet socket in the vicinity of the stereo equipment/TV, it will cause electric outage, and prevent electronics from even turning on! Your TV needs dedicated electric power. If your TV is located in the living room then unplug everything else in the living room. Lets plug the TV set into a Dedicated socket. Check all light switches to ensure that power is on for that outlet. Check the TV cable for Fraying both on the ac wall end and where it plugs into the TV. Check all GFCI outlets to ensure that all red reset buttons are pushed in, check the circuit breakers for proper connection and they are turned on. When troubleshooting these units, there are always several variables to consider. First check to see what last occurred with the unit such as did the children play video games, did the electricity go out due to bad weather. You may see that there are many possibilities but let's focus on what occurred last to the unit. Once we determine what happened last, we may isolate the actual cause of the problem. The actual cause may be associated with projection issues, older versions (Picture tube), interference from devices located nearby, and even a radio turned on and located really close to your unit. This is normally known as electromagnetic interference to electronics and is very common with the error you have provided today. Please continue to look for anything EXTERNAL to the unit before looking at the internal components. I have been working on these a long time so feel free to follow up with me.

My wega 36" turns on but the screen turns black

I had a similar problem with my 42 in Philips LCD HDTV.

Here was the problem. My Power Supply Board had several bad capacitors. I opened my TV (warranty was expired of course) and found four bulged capacitors on the PSB. Many major electronics companies Philips/Magnavox, Sony, Panasonic, and others were sold capacitors that failed in 2-5 years instead of 10-20. The capacitors fail prematurely due to a lack of preservatives. Unfortunately, they were installed in all sorts of devices and cause a wide range of failure problems.

Here are some options for you.

1. Have it fixed by a professional $$$$$$$??????? (Is it under warranty?)

2. Open your TV and find PSB. (The board that the power cord plugs into) Check for faulty caps. If you find some (bulged or leaking) bad caps replace the entire board. The entire board costs around $250 right now because they are in high demand right now. They can be found at tv-part.com but supplies are limited. I would definitely shop around though.

3. Remove and then replace individual faulty caps. This takes some soldering skill.

Caps are inexpensive and if you can take care of it yourself it will save you hundreds.

I have a tip/tutorial on this site that may also help. It gives step by step instructions for replacing caps on PSB #715t2432-2. If this is your board you are in luck. It's called: Fixing the Philips Turns/shuts off on its own problem. I'm working on uploading pictures to help guide people though the process as well. Let me know if I can do anything to help.

Hope this helps and Good luck.

Remote control codes of sony

Hello

Three digit universal remote control codes for Sony are:-

002/ 006/ 071/ 128

Four digit universal remote control codes for Sony are:-

0128 0013 0002 0071 0380 Direct Code Entry
  1. Press and hold the SETUP button until the red indicator stays on, then release the SETUP button.
  2. Press and release the desired Mode button (TV, VCR, etc.). The red indicator blinks, then stays lit.
  3. Enter the 4 digit code from the code tables. Note: after a valid code entry, the red indicator turns off. For an invalid code, the red indicator flashes.
  4. With your device on, press CHANNEL UP. If the device responds, no further programming is required. Note: If some buttons do not operate your device, try one of the other codes for your brand.
Code Search If after trying "Direct Code Entry" your device does not respond, or if your brand is not listed, try doing a search of the code library for your code by following these steps.
  1. Manually turn on the device (TV, VCR, etc.) to be controlled.
  2. Press and hold the SETUP button until the red indicator stays on, then release the SETUP button.
  3. Press and release the desired Mode button (TV, VCR, etc.). The red indicator blinks once, then stays on.
  4. Press the CHANNEL UP button repeatedly (up to 300 times) until the device to be controlled changes channel. The red indicator blinks, then stays lit.
  5. Press and release MUTE to install the code. The indicator light goes off.
Most users will want to store VCR codes under the VCR button, Cable codes under CBL, etc. If you want to store a VCR code under CBL, etc., first follow the procedure for Direct Code Entry and press CBL in step 2 of Direct Code Entry, then enter ANY VCR code in step 3 of Direct Code Entry. Then follow the steps above for Code Search. OK.

Instructions
  1. 1 Make sure the power cord is properly plugged into a wall outlet if your TV is not powering on.
  2. 2 Make sure the video and audio cables connecting your TV to external devices are secure if you are experiencing a fuzzy picture or no picture.
  3. 3 Reset the parental password if you forgot the password and are unable to view certain programs. To do this, click "Menu" on your remote control and use the arrow keys to select "Parental Controls." Enter the master password, which is "4357" to reset the password.
  4. 4 Turn off the caption vision option if you are seeing a large black box on your screen. To do this, click the "Menu" button and select "Setup." Select "Caption vision" and press the "Plus" button on your controller to set the option to "Off."

  7. 7 Make sure the volume is not muted if you are experiencing a clear picture but no sound. Press the "Mute" button on the remote control to turn mute on and off.
  8. 8 Power cycle your Sony Wega if it's frozen or not responding to your remote control. Unplug the power cord and wait a few seconds. Plug the power cord back in.

Tv wont come on but

You either have problems in the power supply or the horizontal output transistor and maybe flyback transformer have failed. If your not familiar with electronic using a multi-meter it will be near impossible to isolate which area has the problem..

Repairs on those tv vary by location but a reasonable average would be 90-120 on the low side and 150-180 if the flyback has failed.

Sorry for the bad news.. Wish I could have said unplug it for 5 minutes and say a couple of chants and walla its fixed..

Good Luck

TV won't turn on at all. It doesn't click at all

Hi,

You are correct, the switch would still click even if something major had failed inside the TV. There is a small microswitch inside the TV directly behind the on/off button. The microswitch can break or get stuck and there is usually no way of fixing it without taking the back off the TV. You could try repeatedly pressing the on/off switch rapidly as this can (very) occasionally unstick it, but it's probably broken.

This isn't generally a user replaceable part as the actual switch is soldered to the PCB. I would take it to a TV repair shop, but if you are planning to remove the back of the TV, make sure it's unplugged and don't open it until the power has been off for at least half an hour as you can still get a considerable residual current shock!

Hope this helps.

What dose it mean when the standby light flashing?

Hello
In Sony TVs, number of blinks of the standby light denotes some problems inside the circuit board of that TV. The number differes with the section where the fault is. According to the number of blinks, we can reach to fault point easly. Just count the number of blinks, with TV switch On-Off with its front panel switch, not by the remote control. Keep this in mind. Ok.
